Mayor Battle is carrying on with a vision first developed under Joe Davis and Dallas Fanning. When I first moved to Huntsville in the early 70s, you could find blocks with almost every house for sale. The Apollo and Missile Defense programs had crashed and thousands were laid off. Huntsville leadership decided that while space and defense were great, Huntsville needed to diversify it’s economy and was no longer dependent upon a single source of jobs. What you’re seeing are the latest steps in that process.
