right to issue currency based on tangible assets, such as gold. That stopped long ago. So money has no intrinsic value. The government can suck away its buying power or, rarely, add to it.

Inflation is built into the system. It benefits mainly government, which can claim that it is giving you bigger benefits, when all it’s doing is giving you more dollars. Government can claim that you made money when you sell an item for more dollars than you paid for it: capital gains tax.

This type of system is intrinsically corrupt.
