I've not seen that poll but I've seen many - other polls that say most

Posted: Jan 10th, 2019 - 6:58 am In Reply to: Yesterday on the BBC radio oversees my friend's buddy - said he heard 80% of Americans

Americans don't want a wall. Most I've read is people want their jobs back and then discuss the wall. Maybe your husband's friend heard wrong or was confusing Republican supporters for democrats.

From things I read, more and more people want strong border security but feel a wall is not the answer. I happen to agree with that.

Some come on this board talking about how Israel's wall is working so well and I have read differently. I have seen articles that, as it is here, the illegals are coming in by air and other ways and the wall is not helping. Plus, it is not just the cost of the wall, but the costs after a wall is built that are draining taxes. I feel money could be better spent on better technology instead of the ancient wall theory.

The only BBC article I found says this and they get their information from a CBS poll:

"How much support does Trump have?

He is backed by most of his party, although a handful of moderate Republican senators have called for an end to the shutdown before the border wall issue is resolved.

The sole Republican among the nine Congress members who represent southern border districts is, like his Democratic colleagues, opposed to Mr Trump's wall plan, CBS News reports.

A new opinion poll suggests just over half of Americans (51%) blame President Trump for the government shutdown.

However, 77% of Republicans say they support his refusal to approve a budget without taxpayer dollars for the US-Mexico border wall, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll."

As the shutdown goes on, I believe more and more republicans will agree with the democrats because the longer this goes on, the more people will suffer financially and it is not "mostly democrats that will suffer" as Trump seems to believe.

If you have a link to the BBC poll that says otherwise instead of what your husband's friend says, then do post it.
