How many times do we read on this board about Europe, socialized medicine, etc.
The fed govt is obligated to obey the Constitution. The States the same. If at any time the govt departs from the restrictions placed upon it by the Constitution, then the States are free to secede from the union. This is one issue about the Civil War that is never brought up. The North put the South in a position of economic servitude and the more populated North had more votes in Congress.
I like Lincoln but he was no saint. He sent federal marshalls to arrest members of Congress who spoke out against this injustice of economic servitude.
Socialist forms of govt are in direct conflict with our Constitution. We've been going down that road since the start of the 20th Century.
Equal justice has been replaced by “social justice” – which is unequal justice, based on the perception of the degree of victimhood by the individual dispensing the justice. It amounts to the institutionalization of lynch mobs.
