But can you actually see Trump doing that? Honestly? He doesn't care about any of that, he doesn't even still understand foreign affairs or have any interest except in the countries where he has hotels and golf courses.

You have answered why a US president should meet with a Russian dictator who has influence in the world and in our own country with his dirty dealings, why we as US citizens should care about reducing Putin's influence in the world and try to stabilize our allies. But not why we would want to be friends with him.

The reason Trump wants to lift sanctions and have a friendly meeting with this guy is obviously appeasement, but it's still not entirely clear why Trump is so obsequious to Putin. I guess there's a lot we still don't know.

If Trump is meeting with Putin, it is certainly NOT to condemn any of his horrendous actions and warn him to tone it down, he is simply going to tell him how great he is and thank you for being his friend.

So really if Trump meets with Putin he will be actually allying the USA with this thug, not condemning him in any way. Is that what we as US citizens want?

No thanks. I don't know who would want that - besides the entire Trump family I guess - but personally I don't want to be friends with Putin or Russia.
