No evidence has emerged that the informant, or "spy" acted improperly when the FBI asked for help in gathering information on the former campaign advisers. The real aim here is to undermine the special counsel investigation. The Republicans are just digging into FBI files for information they can weaponize against the Russia inquiry. Trump has used speculative news reports about the informant or "spy," mostly from conservative media, to repeatedly assail the Russia investigation (the same news he calls fake).
Giuliani acknowledged to CNN that neither the president nor his legal team knew with certainty that the FBI had a spy in the Trump campaign, although he and the president had previously alleged there was. He said
“I don’t know for sure, nor does the president, if there really was one.”
The president is quite infamous for making outlandish "fact" statements that are either disproven or there is no way to actually prove them. However, this is something Republicans want to believe. Yet another deflection. But let's investigate it just for proof. Even if the conclusion is there was no spying on the actual campaign, but rather it was regarding Russia and/or Hillary's emails, Trump and his followers will still insist there was spying going on based on what he has previously called "fake news" because that is what is most convenient for them. Let's wait and see before we state "facts."
