Is it the downsizing? The cramped quarters with the other person? Maybe you can expand a bit on what the disadvantages to you are, and we can take it from there.
For now, though, not sure if you'll need to be in one spot or not, but if at all possible, you can make this an adventure on the road! It certainly would make it more interesting.
