There's no expiration date on the Constitution.
It doesn't need to say the severely mentally ill have the right to buy guns. It gives ALL "people the right to keep and bear arms." The mentally ill are people, therefore they should have equal treatment and equal rights under the law.
Or maybe you should just admit that you don't really support the second amendment as written.
