You don't fix corruption, you prosecute it - sm

I wasn't asking how to fix corruption. That's like asking how to solve crime. I was asking what policies you would implement differently than Obama did to keep the 1% from getting richer.

I tend to agree with you about the politicians. Even if they weren't corrupt, they'd sound that way by the time the election ads finished with them.

On the CBS story about charities... I don't think it will matter much. The gist of the article was the standard deduction is so big now the 30% of tax payers who currently itemize will drop to 10%. That's supposed to stop people from giving to charity because they won't need to itemize. I give to charity and I always take the standard deduction. Additionally, I found the numbers cited by the United Way to be unrealistic. They say they're worried about losing money from the 7.2 million people who donate on average $154 a year. I really don't think $154 is enough to make someone itemize under the current system. That's a lot of work for what would amount to probably $20 in reduced taxes.
