The most important thing is that we recognize the birth of Christ as the incarnation of God, who came to die and pay the penalty for the sins of every person so we could each enjoy close fellowship with God now and forever in heaven. Even now, lots of people have their own unique family traditions, but that doesn't change the fact that Christians take that time to especially reflect on the birth of Jesus.
