IOW, their supporters were only used by them -- as useful idiots -- until they ascended to power by climbing on top of them, walking on top of their heads, etc. All the promises made to the people were lies that were subsequently broken.

After they ascended to power, those who supported them along the way were all thrown under the bus, forced to turn in family, thrown into the loony bin, ostracized, and/or killed.

That was in the USSR or Union of Soviet *Socialist* Republics. Interestingly, if you read history -- the BEST predictor of future behavior -- it has been exactly the same way in every single socialist country. Read Karl Marx -- I doubt anyone here espousing socialism has -- and it should become clear why. The insanity of the dogma is obvious.

In fact, that insanity has bled over into other fields such as criminology. There is a radical (Marxist) school. One of their biggest proponents of Marxism espouses putting 10 year olds to work in FT jobs. He opposes compulsory education for children and says that "evil capitalism deprives these children of their right to earn a living." Never mind that children as minors can't legally contract. That wasn't Industrial Revolution era talk either; he wrote that in the 1990s! But I digress.
