Both of my friends were healthy before they found themselves in this predicament and probably would have opted out of the insurance if not mandatory. (She suffered a dog attack from a loose dog whose owner was never found and hubby has TBI after a fall. Neither thought this would ever happen to them).
Legislation: Tax cuts are being passed by Republicans through budget reconciliation (simple majority). Obamacare was passed with a 60 vote majority.
I remember hearing Cheney saying deficits don't matter, but then the Pubs turned around with their fear mongering and tried to privatize Social Security and make Medicare a voucher program, so that dog don't hunt.
I guess we will see.
