You are leaving out the state taxes in - your analagy

I'm not wealthy but state taxes along with real estate taxes together capped at $10,000 is not going to help people. Maybe you live in a state where you don't pay state taxes or you don't have high real estate taxes, but those of us that do will be hurt.
