The problem with your theory is it will set up schism in the party.
Divide #1: The women aren't being believed. (Tweeden may be a Republican, but she also has that photo of Franken.) Everyone who believes the accusers should always be believed will be upset.
Divide #2: Explain to the satisfaction of the Congressional Black Caucus why Conyers had to step down but Franken didn't. Many liberals will see only one difference between Franken and Conyers, race.
Divide #3: The moral high ground. Some liberals feel this would be ceding the moral high ground, making Dems just like the GOP.
My personal opinion is no one should step down unless they committed a crime. Prove it in court. Then let's talk about who should step down. As far as accusations during an election go, it's up to the voters to decide if the accusations are credible and if they want that person representing them.
I predict Franken will keep his word and roll over the same way Bernie did. "Yes, you were wronged, but swallow it so we fight Trump." Stronger together. :)
