About two months ago I began to volunteer at a bird sanctuary at the mall in a nearby town. I used to have a double yellow Amazon who lived 47 years. I miss her terribly. It is wonderful to work around the birds of all sizes and colors. They are simply beautiful. Today I asked the owner how things were going with donations, and unfortunately he said things were not great. I asked what I could do to help, and he suggested perhaps I could arrange some events to raise money. I would really appreciate any ideas anyone may have. They are having a silent auction at the sanctuary, and I will ake some things up, and I have also asked some friends. I want to do more. It means so much to me to help. The sanctuary is one lively place! The birds are laughing out loud, whistling, imitating phones ringing, hollering, etc. One gave me a wolf whistle today that I will never forget. Thanks for any help you can give me to raise some money for a very worthy cause. Many of these birds have been abused, kept in dark basements, etc. Many have lost their homes due to elderly owners who could no longer take care of them. Thanks in advance!!
