My mom is 75 and in a skilled care nursing home - MC and MA cuts Posted: Nov 28th, 2017 - 7:54 am In Reply to: Here we go again - Read the article sm
The article you cite does not address what happens to the 60% of the elderly living in nursing homes covered through Medical Assistance. Guess who falls in that less than $40,000 a year income bracket? What are you going to do when you or your parents lose coverage?
In case you haven't noticed, many MTs here make less than $40,000 a year and rely on subsidized housing and food stamps to get their families by. What happens when energy assistance is discontinued? Maybe the rich will make a charitable contribution to "poor houses" and "work farms for the poor."
Really, what is the purpose of this tax cut? No tax cut for the rich has ever trickled down. If our economy is so great like what Trump says, why do we have to pull the rug out from under our seniors and children? We should be able to provide a safety net.
