I was just starting my career at a clinic that catered to military wives. I was a clerk, but when the nurses were not available, I would be called to stand in the exam room as a "monitor" to make sure the doctor did not do anything untoward to the woman patient. I do not believe that happens anymore, but I could be wrong.
