The Job Guarantee is about creating work for ANYONE who is seeking work. It is public sector work, not private sector work.
It sets the national minimum wage and benefits packages. It is self-funding through the federal government. It is an automatic economic stabilizer to the ENTIRE COUNTRY. It allows lateral and upward mobility through the nation and forces the private sector to compete with wages and benefits.
It redistributes GDP to the 99%.
THEN and ONLY THEN does an additional $10k-$15k in the form of a UBI become beneficial. Because if you make enough $ to live on, essentially the UBI acts as an iron clad pension.
But using a UBI to pay for toilet paper or meals is utterly foolish, because it is INFLATIONARY: nothing new is added to the productive capacity of the nation, with a stand-alone UBI, while adding tons of $ into the economy. That is the main cause of accelerating inflation.
But as an add-on it buffers one and one’s Family and increases the power to SAVE MONEY.
Like Harsh Med says JG + UBI would be beautiful. But the JG is the alpha project in this pairing.
