until I read articles about him written by serious authors.

He created artificial shortages like slaughtering pigs and making them unable to be eaten so the prices would rise. He didot recognize that prices had fallen because of the depression.

He confiscated gold.

This is where the mixed economy theory came from. Limited government ended under FDR. It's only gotten worse.
