Our Lab - had

the same thing. She was 12 and her hind end just quit on her. We used Rimadyl and bought more time with that and also used a 'lifting sling' to help lift her hind end into the car or just up off the floor. Bought more time with that too. When she could no longer get up quick enough to get to the door and ended laying in her urine, that was when we decided that was enough.

Now have another old, big dog and his hind end is starting to get shaky on him. He refuses to get in the car now. This will be a hard one because he has fear issues and don't think he will tolerate the lifting sling.

The loss of dignity is always my clue as to the 'time.'
