personal. Some folks wangled 3 passports because if you had a passport with certain country entries you could be barred from entering certain other countries or for security reasons. You could be the first victim selected if hijackers seized your passport and saw that you had traveled to certain countries
Given who he was consulting for and who he may have been working for during some of his travels I don't see the sensationalism here. Manafort goes way back to when these realities were part of worldwide travel planning.
I'm only speculating as to why, since the article doesn't say why.
