Are you prejudiced against wealthy people?? - Good bet, YES.

Posted: Oct 26th, 2017 - 6:40 am

"Money can't buy happiness."

"Money is the root of all evil." (Not an accurate quote, by the way.)

"Rich people are greedy."

"The wealthy exploit the poor."  ...etc.

Now, I want to ask you a question, and I bet I know the answer.  You win $30 million in the lottery.  What do you do with your windfall?

I'm guessing that most of you do this:

1.  You set aside a portion for yourself - i.e., to assure that you aren't dependent on others (the govt, etc.) during your lifetime.

2.  You set up bequests and/or gifts to family members and/or others who are important to you.

3.  You identify worthy causes that you want to encourage by financial support.  This could be anything from establishing a scholarship to direct contributions.

Here's my point:  Although there are certainly exceptions, most human beings are "good" in the sense that they care about others, and want to do good with whatever resources they have.

The idea that people with nothing "care" and those with much "don't care" is LUDICROUS.  This is a BASIC HUMAN EMOTION THAT ALL OF US SHARE.

And, in fact, if you look at what wealthy people do with their money, that's exactly what you will discover.

There's a petty little green demon inside all of us that encourages us to hate the wealthy, to wish that everything they have be taken from them, etc.  But who is it who CAN help others?  Obviously, those who have more than they need.

Show me the homeless man who gave someone a job.  Or endowed a scholarship.  Or paid for their drug rehabilitation.

Yes?  I'm waiting.....

Get a new idea, and a new mind.  Yes, there are wealthy people who are greedy and indifferent to the suffering of others around them, who spend everything they have on themselves, and live oppulent lifestyles that stagger the imagination.  But when you start to look at successful people, most often you will find people who, having whatever they need or want, look outward to benefit someone else in society.

I don't hate wealthy people, any more than I hate left-handed people.  All I care about is whether people with resources beyond their reasonable desires use their money to help others in some way.  And when they do, I'm perfectly satisfied if the GOVERNMENT doesn't take their money because the GOVERNMENT obviously doesn't have a clue what to do with it and will just piss it away.

I'm fine with letting you and me keep our money and do with it as we need, and ditto wealthy people as well.  You want to see philanthropy flourish, stop pretending that the GOVERNMENT is a philanthropic organization.  It is nothing of the sort as every single audit of the "hand-out" government agencies has proven.

...and here's the thing.  I'm no different from you.  I see "Lifestyles of the Rich" and I drool right alongside you.  But I also know that there are tens of thousands of people who have more than they need who are giving to those who have less than they need.

The "class warfare" gang don't want you to know that.  They will NEVER advertise the good that so many wealthy people do in our world.  They just want you to HATE, and it's up to you whether you'll allow yourselves to be manipulated that way or not.   We NEED people who have the ability to write checks to help the least fortunate among us.  All this hate-the-rich stuff is total GARBAGE.
