Many of us had to start at the bottom rung of the ladder and climb up. My Scots/Irish ancestors persevered, as did many immigrants groups like the Italians. My take is the so-called "Great Society" has done more to keep blacks as well as others on welfare and thus little economic benefit. Of course the Democrats thoroughly protect and perpetuate their travesty of so-called compassion that was started by LBJ.
