Neighbors cat - This is what I think

I had a similar situation a few years ago where I live, except a neighbor passed away and the cat got left behind. She sat outside my door and cried and then one day found her way inside and we “adopted” each other. She is a very sweet Siamese mix and a wonderful companion. Cats are actually really social and somehow have a way of choosing who they want in their lives, and if the food is better at your house and this cat gets attention from you, you may not be able to get rid of it, he also probably wants to interact with your cats. My advice would be to try and get the owner to take responsibility, do not take someone else’s pet to the veterinarian unless you want legal problems. If he’s neglected as you say, contact the animal shelter. It’s really not safe for cats to be on the streets - fights with tougher cats, dogs, cars and other hazards. We had raccoons in our neighborhood who attacked some cats because someone was leaving food out at night thinking they were doing a good thing. If this cat isn’t neutered, there might be a female in heat somewhere. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but it’s really not your responsibility to do anything. If he were a stray, I’d say go for it, but he already has an owner.
