What are those choices and when. Even with subsidy - I cannot afford this any longer. sm

I have been informed by my ACA carrier that due to all of the playing around in Congress over healthcare, the threats of subsidies being taken away, unstable markets, blah, blah, blah, that my insurance will increase by nearly $300 per month the first of the year. Total of close to $600 per month after subsidy, for just me. I cannot afford this. That is our total grocery allowance. If the government was going to force the ACA to be unaffordable, then they should have come up with something better. I will just have to pay the fine. I don't know what it is. Was told by a friend that he did without health insurance last year and he was asked why on a form, and put "I can't afford it," and he was not fined. This new plan, if it goes anywhere, may not be available until 2019. If it without subsidies and is more than what I have now, at my age I can't do that either.
