I'm sure you could find some NFL support - dazedandconfused

in that, too. And I believe, if you look, you could find the NFL members who support the right to life movement. And some who support a woman's right to choice, also.

Your comment is a one-liner that does not encourage dialogue nor indicate you are open to one. It seems if you don't agree with something, it shouldn't be allowed. Luckily, you alone do not get to decide anything for the rest of us who can and do make our own decisions.

The precedent in the NFL was set and the league did nothing to change it with the first protest during the anthem. The players may be limited in how vocal they can be in demonstrating an opinion in their contracts with the team and as members of the league. By not kneeling they may within their contractual confines and satisfy their need to show they disagree. I'm not sure.

I think it is confusing. If it is Trump's immigration policy they are protesting and not the national anthem, I wish they could have found a better way to voice their opinions. But they are falling back on the precedent that has been set in the NFL and exercising their American right to freedom of speech, which even corporations have now. There are a lot of minorities in the NFL, and the team owners probably want to show support of their players. It's a pickle. And we are truly divided under this president, like no other before him. We are seeing people weigh in who are usually happy being silent and enjoying their very enjoyable lives. Isn't it great? Activism is so AMERICAN. It's what sets us above the rest.

Something else confused me. That Woodsboro Church in Wichita protesting at funerals of servicemen. I thought they were protesting the war. Then I discovered it was homosexuality. And I thought those were funerals of gay soldiers. Then, it was no. The soldiers weren't gay. Gays in the armed service? No, just homosexuality in general. There was no real connection.

This is kind of like that. I like their activism but the activity should be more representative of what you are protesting or something is lost in the translation and everyone is too busy arguing about the method of protest to try and understand what the protest is about. (Remember the KISS letter?) It loses something, like the point.

I think if they actually voted (and wouldn't it be fun to know if they actually voted) and do not like who is president or what he is doing, then just voting isn't enough. And maybe. on the next go round, they should get involved during the campaign process.

Do you remember the gold medalists who gave the black power sign or what was interpreted as during the anthem and the public outrage that evoked? I think the commentators said something, too. Wrapping yourself in the flag is okay, though.
