My opinion on protesting during the National Anthem - sm

It makes me sad. I do wish it did not have to come to this. However, I would much rather see people protest in this way, taking a knee, not saying a word, not looting and rioting, destroying property, and disrupting businesses. I honestly do not believe these guys participating in taking a knee during the National Anthem are disrespecting our flag, our country, or our military. While many try to make that case, if they would listen, respect, and try to understand, they would see what the issues are. I agree with their message. This is their first amendment right and they are using it. If this costs them their job, they knew the consequences when they did it. The media could destroy them with it. This is a risk they choose to take.

I honestly do not believe the fans are going to counter-protest by not buying tickets. Most major, higher ranking games, are sell-outs. You simply have to ask yourselves, why are they doing this, instead of the attitude of get rid of them because they are doing this. They do have very valid points.

The president of our country should consider the above, and should definitely understand this is free speech, even though they do not speak a word. It would make me consider their points more so than someone marching with a sign. With so many very important issues going on in this country right now, if DT wanted to spend any time vocalizing on this at all, it should have been more about their message instead of labeling them as traitors. You may not like the truthfulness of what they are saying, but you cannot keep them from expressing how they feel. These are very talented, intelligent people who do work to try to make positive changes in their communities, who donate, who worship just like the rest of us. They are hurting no one (except maybe themselves, $$). Our veterans have historically fought for their very right to do this. They are supported by many veterans, political associations besides BLM, and they very people who employ them. The NFL is a for-profit organization. They do not need Donald Trump's opinions on their policies or instructions to stop someone from exercising their first amendment right. You just have to live and let live.
