Han Chinese, the Japanese, and the Koreans all DO consider their own ethnic group to be superior to others, and they DO (culturally, if not by written law) tend to treat non-group members as "lesser." A significant percentage of India still clings to their caste system. I don't know much about African tribalism, other than they keep killing each other for being in the wrong tribe. I'm betting that "we're better than them" is a part of that system as well.
