DAPL

Posted: Oct 29, 2016

No one has mentioned the Dakota Access Pipeline on this board, but I am asking for help now from everyone on this board.  Please understand both sides of this issue.  Imagine my surprise when I opened Facebook this morning and I see the top trending story is that "thousands of wild bison" magically appeared at the pipeline.  Seriously, folks, the picture on Facebook is not from and has nothing to do with DAPL. There were a few buffalo at the pipeline protest, but that was because someone - I wasn't there, so I can't say who - thought that chasing a a herd of buffalo around the site would really add "authenticity" to their riot. There are no wild buffalo (or bison) in North Dakota.

Most of what is being said by the Tribe is false.  The "protest" is no longer peaceful - it is on private land - they are the ones destroying the land.  They were asked multiple times and members of the tribe were involved in the decision about where the pipeline should be.  They were offered millions of dollars to let it go through the reservation, but they turned it down, holding out for more money and were not happy when the pipeline moved to another site. This is the real reason they are protesting (rioting).  Also 85% of the people there are not Native Americans (85% of those arrested are not from ND and not natives).

North Dakotans have been praying for a good 2 -day blizzard that starts with freezing rain and ends with 45 mph winds - then all the non-native North Dakotans would go home......This is costing North Dakota millions of dollars and only involves a handful of people from ND and the rest are people that will move on to the next riot as soon as this one is over.

Whether you want crude oil to get to the refinery by pipeline, truck or train, it's going to get there - because neither you nor I wants to give up the gas in our car or all the other things that are made from plastic.  We are the consumers and those who drill the oil and transport it are just giving us what we think we deserve.

My plea to you is that you don't perpetrate this myth that this is a "peaceful protest" and that the Native Americans are protecting their water supply (false).  I personally know 5 law officers whose lives have been impacted by this because they are being asked to go the pipeline and risk their lives working hours overtime to keep this thing "peaceful."  It is escalating, folks, and unless we stop "glorifying" it and making it into something it is not, someone is going to get hurt.  Please stop sharing the photos and blogs and false stories on Facebook, etc.  I'm asking if you don't live here and are not involved in it here on the ground, don't perpetrate the lies.  If you want to fight against oil, stop driving your car and stop using products made from oil - put the companies out of business.

I always wondered why this got approved by Keystone did not. - Must have something to do with Warren Buffett

and politics.

The buffalo come because it's warm, like the elk did with the Alaska pipeline.

Keystone was to cross an international border giving Obama additional leverage that he doesn’t have for this one. He can still try to stall the CoE approvals.

Buffalo were part of a herd.... - that are on the reservation

They were driven to the Pipeline protest site by natives on horseback. The thought was that since buffalo are big and can do a lot of damage, it would be a good idea to run over law enforcement at the site, but evidently someone wiser decided that the buffalo don't know the difference between law enforcement and natives and somebody could actually get hurt.....

Chaos theory or law of unintended consequences. - I guess the thinking is the buffalo

don't have to get paid like Soros' protesters.

Still, man trying to control nature has never worked.

These "climate activists" manually turned off the safety - valves to stop the flow

of oil through pipelines.

If everyone is so worried about climate change then maybe they should shut off their devices, televisions, vehicles... Oh, and stop buying things made of plastic... You are all a bunch hypocrites!

Setting climate change aside for a moment... putting hardworking men and women's lives in danger by messing with things that the activists have no understanding of is sickening! The ones who could be hurt or possibly killed are innocent hard-working men and women who are out there working a crumby, laborious job to put food on the table for their families. And, standing by, giving brainless idiots their "15 minutes of fame" should be punished.

The Blackfoot Tribe in MT invited the oil companies to - drill on their reservation.

Follow the money.

The pipeline does not pass through reservation land. The whole “oil pipeline is going to pollute the water table” argument is ridiculous, the oil never touches any water. It flows through an above ground pipeline, and any spill can be contained within minutes. There is little to no pollution caused by an oil pipeline, and depending on how well it is designed, barely an eyesore.

What a joke.

DAPL Pipeline is below ground... - a pipe within a pipe

Follow the money. If the pipeline doesn't go through, that - oil needs to be shipped by rail

[ In Reply To ..]
Who owns the rail? Who does the owner of the rail donate to?

Warrant Buffett, Democrat.

This is about politics.

It's the cause de jour out here in the West. The casino - Indians are sending delegations

and the college kids are jumping on board...

Obama's focus is on getting top dollar on the price of oil - for Iran.
