Obamascare

Posted: Apr 1, 2014

Obamascare is eqivalent to punishing 100% of the class simply because 85% refuse to behave and claim they have ADD with the inability to control their behavior.  The "good" kids are made to suffer also by helping pay for the medications of the "bad" kids.  These types of irrational tactics usually backfire and Obamascare will as well.... in time.

No matter how they try to sugar-coat the "benefits" it still makes you sick to your stomach.

Obama care was made to line to pockets of those - above the working class

I know this because the "competitively priced" plans for my husband who is 27, who is healthy, and who exteremly rarely needs to go to the doctor has to pay $215 a month for the minimum coverage! His boss is too cheap to buy a plan for the company of 5 guys and pays everyone under the table as it is.

We do not accept any government welfare and do our best to provide for our kids on our own and this is how were get repaid for not mooching off the taxes of others! A mandatory health plan that is way above our means. We do not have cable, we live in a modest 2 bedroom home with a family of 4, and drive old beat up cars made in the 90's; so tell me Mr. Obama how I can possibly cut my spending anymore to afford this plan?

We can't stop eating or paying rent and utilities so what now? We take a fine for being poor.

Thanks a lot.
And those who get Obamacare, etc., will - coldly laugh in your face

because they got theirs and all is fine in their world. They (democrats) are not looking at the big picture. Who pays for this debacle? People like this poster and people like me who are not takers. Yes, there are those who need it, but 80% of them are receiving subsidies. What does that tell you?
what does it tell you - sm

when posters who don't claim part of their income, and don't pay taxes on same, COMPLAIN that everyone ELSE is getting away with something?! I've never seen anything like it.
I never said we don't file a 1099 I said... - don’t jump to conclusions...
[ In Reply To ..]
I never said we don't file taxes. Every year my husband files a 1099 independent contractor statement because his boss pays him cash and doesn’t pay for extras like health care or workers comp. Wow you people are really quick to rip people apart! I am sorry for how sad your life must be to get on here and be so rude.
you're right - sm

I did jump to a conclusion. Sorry about that. You can certainly file taxes even when you're paid under the table.

You do, however, have top pay more taxes when you are paid under the table. If the employers doesn't match the FICA, you have to pay the whole amount yourself. Plus, Unless your husband pays his own unemployment insurance, he will not be eligible for unemployment benefits.

If the boss does not supply Workers' Compensation, it is more than likely that he also has no kind of liability insurance. If your husband should get hurt on the job, you will be out-of-pocket for the healthcare as well as the time lost from work.

Your husband's employer is under absolutely NO obligation to supply health insurance for such a small company. However, there are all kinds of laws about what kind of companies have to pay into Workers' Comp.

If the employer does not have liability insurance (and I seriously doubt he does), your husband can be sued, if, for example, he is doing tree work and a branch goes through someone's roof.
I thought employer must file 1099, too? - Mine always did

Anything over $600.
not if you are paid under the table - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
The employer issues a 1099 if you are a private contractor ON THE BOOKS. If you are paid "under the table" it means the person who is employing you is not claiming you or reporting your wages in any way.
Huge red flag - sm

My understanding is if the employer does the 1099 paperwork and sends the IC employee a copy of the form.

The employee does not make out their own 1099. If the employee does not receive the 1099 form from their employer, it would be a huge red flag to the IRS when they file if they indicated that they have no 1099 from the employer.

I could keep it I wanted to pay 120% more. No thanks, can no longer afford any insurance now with MT going down the tubes.
What about all the people who are working - sm

two or more minimum wage (or slightly higher) jobs, who STILL can't afford to pay the exorbitant insurance "for profit" companies' rates?

There are a LOT of UNDERemployed people who are struggling to survive on less than $10.00 per hour?? They're too busy running around the hamster wheel to even jump off!
excuse me, but if you are paid under the table, you pay no taxes - that IS mooching
[ In Reply To ..]
If you can afford a modest 2-bedroom apartment with a family of four and manage NOT to pay taxes on your husband's income, how does that make you poor? Do you understand that if your husband claimed his income and paid taxes, you might be better off?
Getting paid under the table is also illegal. - SMH

My point is that getting paid under the table is illegal. - nm

:)
Who cares if it's illegal? What I make as an MT - is also illegal. Fix that, and I"ll pay the t
[ In Reply To ..]
Most of us who have under-the-table jobs are doing it just to survive, because we make poverty-level wages and pay far more tax on that wage than is fair, or realistic. And all the while, those t the top have so many loopholes, many of them pay NOTHING. I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for accepting cash and/or barter in order to keep my apartment and continue to eat.
Okay, you people who get paid under the table - Your obamacare premiums will be way low!
[ In Reply To ..]
Because it will look like you are making next to nothing and you will be eligible for subsidies!!

So what the heck are you complaining about?
LOL. No complaints, here. - ;)

Citizens who don't pay the taxes they legally owe, ARE, in fact, "mooching off the taxes of others." They ARE receiving government welfare in that they are benefiting from the American infrastructure without paying their fair share.

Citizens who hide taxable income are, in fact, defrauding their local and federal governments.

I agree, it's wrong...sm - KL

but if our economy was in better shape people wouldn't have to cheat and Obama has made it even harder by forcing us to pay more in penalties and insurance premiums. My point was that, if Obama is underhanded and commits illegal acts, why do you judge those who do the same thing and who do not make the kind of money our idiot president does. Our "leader" who is the biggest defrauder of all is who is setting the stage for citizens to defraud because they may soon have no choice.
"but if our economy was in better shape people wouldn't have to cheat" - sm

Sorry, but nobody makes anyone do anything. Like you said above: "What ever happened to responsibility?" This has nothing to do with the president or anyone else.
Sure it does... - KL

We don't all make the same pay and we can't all afford un-affordable disease care which is of O's doing. Lots of people resort to things they never would if they had the same opportunities as others.
I think you're pulling my leg - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Of course we don't all make the same pay. That is hardly Obama's fault. (!) I guess it's okay for "some people" to resort to previously unthinkable things. I'd love to hear you defend that point when talking about the profoundly downtrodden.
It's Obama's fault for penalizing us... - KL

for things that are none of his business.
you're losing me - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
According to your last post, the problem is "we don't all make the same pay." Perhaps the problem here is that you are taking the actions of legislators personally. Obama isn't penalizing us, and he's not in our personal business.
Yes, Obama is in our personal business! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
And he is trying more and more every day to be in more and more parts of our lives to control every facet of our lives. That is his ultimate goal (i.e., New World Order).
Obama (and others) won't know anything about - your "business" if you do it for CASH.
