audacity of the t-shirt

Posted: May 23, 2011

Got to love it!  People up on their hind legs over a t-shirt.  Snide remarks about taking money to the bank from them.  Suggestion that they donate profits to reduce the deficit. No problem with the uberwealthy having unjust tax breaks and tax dodges, but high anxiety over a campaign novelty.  A-N-D they think it is Bama who has intelligence deficits.  Hoot, hoot!

Bama deserves no credit for finding bin Laden - special forces did that. But . . . he is DIRECTLY responsible for the T-shirt idea. fish in a barrel up here y'all.

Hoot hoot indeed.....never said Obama was - directly responsible for it...

however, it IS his campaign, and HE is the face of it, and one would think that he signed off on it, and if he didn't...well, he should have been paying more attention.

Seriously....you don't think it will come back to bite the campaign? Like I said, if I were the person running against him, I would wear it everywhere I went. I would do billboards. I would photoshop it onto Obama and make it impossible for people to think of Obama without seeing the "gotcha" t-shirt.

Personally, I think this is the LAST thing he needs right now, but oh well...I am not the brain trust running his campaign.

But...like your title suggests...maybe it will be a new book op after he gets defeated in 2012....

The Audacity of the T-Shirt...How the Mighty Have Fallen.

Now there is a book I can believe in!

MY fault. Your failure to address any issue other than my feelings about Obama are getting old...just sayin.

Please...I beg you...give me one good reason to vote for him. Since I am an independent, I couldn't care LESS what party he belongs to. I just think he is doing a lousy job. What is is plan for the deficit? Ignore it another 2 years? Not acceptable. What is his plan for spending cuts? None for the next 2 years? Not acceptable. I could go on, but why not address those 2 issues and give me a reason to vote for him.

Sure you do hate him. That's obvious, but I am not the person you talked to earlier - nm

don't care about the deficit or spending cuts or if the US goes belly up, you just like him and hate Republicans.

Good plan.
There is absolutely nothing in her posts that even suggests she hates him - see message

There is nothing that even sounds like she hates him. She talked about issues. There is a difference. She doesn't agree with the issues and if he was a republican toting the same issues she still wouldn't agree with them.

Maybe people need to take off their blinders. They can't argue facts so they pull this "hate" or "racist" crap. It's really getting old. Especially since it's not true and you know it.

People who call others "haters" usually are the ones who are the haters themselves. People should take a good look in the mirror cos what you accuse others of is exactly what they do.

Maybe you're looking for a person who can wave a magic wand and make all of the problems that have taken years to develop and..waving that magic wand...the problems disappear.

There is a time when maturity and patience have to kick in so we don't make knee-jerk decisions but take a steady approach to fixing what's wrong. I believe that is what President Obama is doing. It's pretty simple. I like that about him.
He's had 2 years and the deficit is going UP... - not down. He and the

Democrats have had 2 years to address spending cuts and they have done nothing. All Obama has done is put forth a 3 TRILLION dollar budget in the face of a 14.3 trillion dollar deficit. Unemployment remains essentially the same. Frankly, the US cannot afford that kind of "maturity and patience." What, please tell me, shows you that what Obama is doing, whatever that is, is making things any better? We are getting ready to raise the debit limit yet again.

I think the whole thing in a nutshell is your last line. You like Obama, you don't like Republicans. Period. Never mind what is actually happening in the country.

I just don't get it. With all due respect of course. It is not about liking him or disliking him. It is time for hard decisions and he has made it abundantly clear he is not going to make them. And that, I won't mince words, DON'T like. Doesn't have anything to do with him as a person, but everything to do with him as PRESIDENT.

I don't see how you can look at the situation we are in and think that waiting is going to help. It is years of not wanting to make the hard decisions by BOTH sides that got us here, and I am looking for someone on EITHER side to own up to that and FIX it.

Thanks.
And who would that magical person be? - mbmt

in his first term, during the first part of which he controlled both houses of Congress. What I know is, the current President is a lousy one. Unemployment basically the same. Added another trillion to the deficit. Will not talk about spending cuts. Thumbed his nose at the constitition a couple of times.

Tell me...what about his job performance makes you think that his next term will be any better? Other than he is a Democrat and NOT a Republican.
You didn't ask me, but I believe he is making progress steadily, every day - sm

I read articles and watch coverage of what the President is doing. Few things can be checked off as 'Completed', but many are 'In Progress' as they should be.
Few, many....name ONE and one thing about - it that shows progress.
[ In Reply To ..]
One area that really matters...like spending cuts...like the deficit, like unemployment. If this was a Republican President, would you be defending him by saying give him time, he's only had 2 years and the deficit is only 14.3 trillion, unemployment is the same....seriously. Same job performance, but different man, different party.

Didn't think so.
Oh sure "progress steadily" in drowning us in debt is all.!nm - Independent

other than attacking the other side. I realize that is a very, VERY difficult thing to do, faced with the economy and his job performance....but I thought you might like to at least have the appearance of supporting him for no reason other than he is a Democrat.

But the fact that you are a proud t-shirter speaks volumes.

T-shirters....LOL.

exemplifies what is wrong with this country. Got a clue for you though...not everyone who thinks this President is doing a lousy job is a far right winger. I am an Independent, and people like you are why I am an independent. I don't want any party telling me how to think. You are obviously very comfortable with rote lockstep follow the man no questions asked. I guess it is helpful not to have to think for yourself. Makes life a lot easier, doesn't it? Makes rationalizing the economy, the deficit, et al, a lot easier, doesn't it?

Not the OP, but I like President Obama and applaud the progress he is making - Not In Lockstep Though

I'm watching closely in a couple of areas to see how he handles them. I totally think for myself. I also don't think any one person is perfect, and very few of them are all bad either. This angel or devil mentality hurts our country, but maybe it has always been this way. I'm not that way though, and will appreciate the good and speak out about the bad.

interesting response - T-shirter and proud of it

[ In Reply To ..]
The gist of the post was that anti-Obama people jump on silly inconsequential things like T-shirts and then try to blend the trivial into the major issues by complaining about where that little bit of money goes. The response totally ignored the main point and went off on some rant STILL regarding the T-shirt and their personal desire to see our president brought down. So silly.

If it is a silly inconsequential thing, why are you - a proud T-shirter?
[ In Reply To ..]
If you (and the campaign) are really interested in major issues, why aren't you talking about them INSTEAD of creating junior high hit piece t shirts, proclaiming yourselves t-shirters....because you want to talk about ANYTHING but the economy, the 14.3 trillion dollar deficit, the totally UNtransparent administration, making air strikes on a foreign country without congressional approval...hey, just pick one.

But oh no...proud t-shirters don't discuss issues. They just point at the other guy.

You really, SERIOUSLY think the country is headed in the right direction? That we can sustain this debt? And add the 3.whatever trillion that Obama wants to add on top of it?

I guess so, proud t-shirter. Better hang on to that t-shirt. If Obama stays in, it may be the only shirt you have.

Always post a disclaimer. Boilerplate - "not responsible for misinterpretations by respondents who suffer from irony-gland insufficiency."

Its too bad they always seem to be the most vocal. rest assured there are quiet others who are sitting back, reading and enjoying the mismatch.

I am by no means an Obama fan, but I do respect the office he holds and I also respect people's right to free speech (which extends to messages on T-shirts). While I may not agree with what others say, I nonetheless support their right to speak. No one has to shut up just because we have differing views.

I don't consider myself an Obama 'fan' but I am beginning to be - an Obama Supporter

[ In Reply To ..]
I agree with what you said. I'm not really into t-shirts, although I guess that's always the way campaigns are done and always have been. Freedom of speech. Sometimes I get intimidated in the state where I live, because you are either a Republican or you keep your mouth shut. I got out of the habit of expressing my viewpoints.

I don't believe in putting politicians up on pedestals, as people did during the Bush administration. I do believe that time will tell about any and all administrations. I like the way this one is going, so far. I'm liking him as President more all the time, with an occasional question about one topic or another. Time will tell. I may just be a supporter very soon.

Just look at the job he is doing. If you want - more of the same, he's

your guy. If you like the 14.3 trillion and growing deficit with no end in sight and no meaningful plan to change it, he's your guy. If you want the 3.2 trillion budget on TOP of that, he's your guy. If you want a nontransparent administration where the President sends troops into conflict without congressional approval, he's your guy.

Those are a few of the issues that make him SO not my guy.
Yes! I want more of the same. He works hard and is making progress - and I want more of that

I sure do want more of that hard work, common sense, and calm, steady approach to solving our problems. We have thousands of problems, so I want him to use a thoughtful approach, as he has been doing.

Over the past few days I have been reading The Audacity to Win by Davlid Plouffe. It was nice to revisit the early days of the campaign.  Reading Plouffe's and other veteran dem campaigners personal impressions of Obama was inspiring. Obama's level-headedness, grasp of the long view of changes needed and focus on policy rather than politics are apparent from the beginning.  I would recommend the book, but only to those who truly are interested in wonky details.  It ...

What To Wear Under A ShirtJun 11, 2010
I found the most beautiful shirt!  It's sleeveless, has thin elastic at the waist and drapes snuggly over the lower waist and hips.  It is a thin poly cotton blend, so it needs something underneath, but strapless bra looks bulky, and I'm, well not "heavy" chested, but well-endowed, so need support.  I just want a smooth, well supported look without the headlights showing! Any suggestions?  ...
