Women barred from voting because she was wearing a MIT T-shirt

Posted: Nov 6, 2012

Once they realized that her shirt was actually MIT (school) and not for Mitt Romney they let her vote.  WHAT THE?????? (left out the swear word since some don't like that).

You've got to be joking.  All the Obama suppporters are for that?????  Basically what it is saying is that if you support Mitt Romney you are not allowed to vote.

Oh yeah, then when they realized she was wearing a school shirt and not a Romney shirt they "allowed" her to vote.

I am outraged that liberals think that's okay, and the liberals that don't think it's okay won't say anything.

Win at all costs right?  Who needs fairness in voting.  So Obama wins.  Thanks to the help of the bankers who he's keeping rich, thanks to the Black panthers, and thanks to cheating.  Something seriously wrong with the mentality of a liberal.  Oh yeah, and now they are going to go after the people who didn't support Obama.  Nice!

Lol at the mistake of MIT vs Mitt....but...sm - JTBB

In my state it's illegal to wear anything partisan at a polling station, and if you have a bumper sticker you have to park 1000 feet away. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. Also, any political signs, campaign workers etc have to adhere to that 1000 ft rule.

Exactly - not anti-Mitt but signage not allowed - even on a T-shirt

Not voter suppression, just dim poll worker.

But it's okay to wear Obama hats. - Thanks for clarifying that

Not it's not. Look. Election laws vary by state. - If a state does not restrict
[ In Reply To ..]
voters from wearing clothing with partisan signage, ALL voters of that state are allowed to do so. Where you would see Obama caps, you would also see Romney caps. That means there is nothing here that requires clarification.

I am not aware of ANY state that allows party messaging to be worn into the polls. I could be wrong about this, but I don't think so. Does anyone live in a state where this is permitted?

You mean illegal to wear anything supporting a republican - Obama hats, murals, signs are okay

[ In Reply To ..]
Nice scam dems got going.

Nope....sm - JTBB

[ In Reply To ..]
That's a long-standing law that applies to all parties.

Now...let's see what Todd Akins has to say...lololol

That is incorrect - nice try

It is not illegal to wear a political t-shirt when you go vote. It IS illegal for a judge to wear paraphenalia, but hey, they let the judges wear Obama hats and your fine with that.

Next time at least try and make the lie not sound like an obvious lie. Everything can be fact checked you know.

Fact: A voter may wear campaign paraphernalia (buttons, t-shirts, or stickers) into the polling place while he or she is there to vote (the voter may not linger in the polling place after voting). However, an election judge, challenger and watcher, or other person stationed inside the polling place or within 100 feet of the polling place may not wear or display campaign materials.

Wrong. Voters wearing Obama T-shirts would be - turned away too.

Also, liberals did not make these rules. Their opinions, and those of conservatives are immaterial. It's the law. The remainder of your argument is based on a false premise, and is WAY out of line. Libs and dems are the ones who fight AGAINST voter suppression, both in the courts and in Congress. The GOP is the party who sponsor bills aimed at making it harder. If you really have feelings this strong on suppression, you should take it up with them.

I HATE THIS! YET... - CONTRADICTING

YOU CAN GO TO A SCHOOL TO VOTE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND THERE IS A PICTURE OF OBAMA ON A WALL MURAL LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU WHILE YOU VOTE.

A LADY WAS BANNED FROM VOTING BECAUSE HER SHIRT SAID....

VOTE BIBILICALLY.

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!!!!!

I GUESS OBAMA CAN DO NO WRONG.

The Obama campaign had nothing to do with - Philly's poll site faux pas.

[ In Reply To ..]
After directing your outrage at the appropriate officials, you can rest assured your country is where it's always been. If anything needs to be "taken back," it's the GOP, which needs to be extricated from the vice grip extremist factions have on it.

Ummm.... I vote Biblically. - Independent.

Sad for this country. Welcome to the new third World Country and more layoffs when the sequestration kicks in.
What does that mean, voting biblically? - Serious question. SM

What I see and have heard for months now is disturbing. I thought this was the United States of America, not I hate you because of who you support. I thought we had freedom of speech and could support whomever we wanted because we had the right to do that, and to even wear a T-shirt with our favorite candidate's initials or picture on it!! Don't we show our favorite teams, activities, et cetera and profanity and dirty pictures on T-shirts, now they would refuse to let someone vote because they thought the letters on her shirt meant Mitt Romney!!Is this what freedom means. I have read so many messages of hate lately on web sites and threats against people for what they believe. This is the first time that people are not putting up signs supporting their favorite candidate for fear of something happening to them or their property. When does this stop!! The mentality of people is frightening and have we sunk to an all time low. I am embarrassed that my grandchildren see all of this, and sincerely hope that those of us that have children bring them up to believe that respect to others is very important and that bullying and threatening behavior should never, ever happen.

Completely agree with your post. - Could not put up a sign.

Very sad. The country is split.

Well....let's hold the outrage for a minute. - (see message)

I don't know the full story about the MIT shirt, but here, where I live, no one is allowed to wear anything with ANY of the candidates' names on their person when they are within a certain number of feet of a polling place. It's the law here. It's well publicized, and everyone knows, or should know, to leave your shirt, your hat, your button at home when you come to vote.

From this story, my GUESS (like I said, I don't personally know the full story) is that the polling worker was just dumb, not disallowing someone to vote BECAUSE they supported Mitt Romney but rather because the worker mistakenly THOUGHT it was a Mitt shirt. Hopefully, it was all cleared up when explained to the worker that it was a school name. In my state, it would've been the worker's duty to turn that voter away until they came back without a candidate's name on their shirt.

Now, having said that, this is a law here, but I really don't know if it's vigorously enforced....have never seen it to be a big problem here; however, I even removed my magnetic candidate bumper stickers when I went to my polling place because I was afraid my parking spot might be within the forbidden distance! LOL.

Oh, durrrr.....now I see the other - comments above.... (see message)

Older Women Versus Younger Women And Trump/ClintonOct 10, 2016
Women who "like" Trump are invariably older and don't like Hilary Clinton because they were raised in an era of economic competition with each for men. In the old days, men generally took care of their women, and some women lucked out with good men and some stuck it out with bad ones. Young women can take care of themselves economically so aren't as threatened by other women so they're more apt to go for HIllary. Older women also don't like Clinton because she stuck with her ...

What To Wear Under A ShirtJun 11, 2010
I found the most beautiful shirt!  It's sleeveless, has thin elastic at the waist and drapes snuggly over the lower waist and hips.  It is a thin poly cotton blend, so it needs something underneath, but strapless bra looks bulky, and I'm, well not "heavy" chested, but well-endowed, so need support.  I just want a smooth, well supported look without the headlights showing! Any suggestions?  ...

Ohio voting just got a little harder, not because early voting has been cut down, and not because of new ID restrictions. That's right. Republicans are doing everything in their power to ensure a win in Ohio. The latest tactic works on a county by county basis. County by county it is decided whether or not to extend hours at the voting sites. Each county has a commission comprised of two dems and two pubs. You would think this would be a good thing to extend hours in this state right? ...
