with supplying morning after pills without a rx and without parent supervision? Is this okay with you guys? Do you have any daughters? This reminds me of Nazi rule. Killing babies from botched abortions and now since we don't want the kids punished with a baby, just let them take these drugs without parents knowledge. A-OK. This country is circling the drain. I'm just kind of surprised. You liberals are usually so vocal about your "causes."

Although you probably wouldn't comprehend what I am saying if I were standing in front of your face, I don't agree that a 15-year-old should necessarily be able to buy OTC Plan B without parental consent either.

But then again, the way I see it, any 15-year-old who gets pregnant probably didn't have much in the way of parenting anyhow.

Plan B comes in packages of either 2 pills or 1 pill, at a cost of about $50. I don't even know how much would have to be taken to cause not only side effects but death (if that's even possible), but it would have to be quite a lot, and at that cost, I don't know of many 15 year olds who would intentionally do this.

You should worry more about acetaminophen products which come in packages with enough tablets to be toxic and at a price that most teenagers could afford. Should we make Tylenol by Rx only?

Plan B has been out for several years, and I have yet to hear of death from overdose from Plan B. If this is incorrect, I would appreciate any links to support this.

I am a typo master, especially when I post because my personal computer (versus work computer) has a regular, not ergo keyboard, and no expander to fix my typos. I swear my expander has more typo "expansions" than regular expansions!! Back in the day (yes, I am dating myself), I probably used more correction fluid and Selectric erase cartridges than anyone in the company...

Oh, and I was also pulled over by the spelling police because I typo'd senator (spelled it sentator). HEY! Maybe I'll make it a theme in my subject line. Instead of a moniker, I'll typo or misspell something!!

But ya gotta admit, at least the spelling police is somewhat of a diversion from the stock mindless, empty insults when no argument or discussion can be thought of--the ones I have to restrain from an "I know you are, but what am I" reply... after a little chuckle, that is.

Can you imagine a 15-year-old having the courage to try to come up against THAT and the resulting tirade that would come with the news that she (1) was pregnant and (2) is planning to use this medication.

For that reason, I'm all for it. Girls in this tender situation need some understanding, and I doubt they would receive same from unyielding, combative parents.

I raised 4 girls on a farm in Podunk. no teenage moms, no out of wedlock babies, but I would have given my girls (or any other 15-year-old girl that came to me) Plan B in a heartbeat rather than have them end up in the hands of someone like Kermit Gosnell.

I'm not sure why you posted this. Plus you asked "why". Usually you ask why after something is brought up, not starting a new discussion. Was this subject already brought up and that's why you are asking why or is it a whole new thread. If its a new subject shouldn't you be asking liberals first if they agree with something.

Your post is just coming across accusatory, and does sound like you are a little mad, but it's hard to know what at. Honestly I don't think you should lump all liberals in one group as though they all support this. I don't think all liberals do, just like I don't think all liberals are in favor of abortions or are okay with their teenage daughter taking morning after pills or not even knowing what their teenage daughters are doing.

Now...that's not to say I agree with liberal viewpoints because I don't. I think many of the liberal posters here are for socialism/communism in this country, but again that's not every one of them. My mother always taught me not to lump everyone into one group, everyone is an individual. Just like I wouldn't want anyone labeling me a war mongerer or racist or hater just because I'm a conservative.

I for one do not have any daughters, but if I did this would have to be a decision I would weigh carefully whether or not I am a liberal or conservative. I would not want my daughter taking this drug, yet on the other hand I would not want my teenage daughter to have to have a baby because of a mistake she made, and on the other hand I would hope she would not even be in a situation that this would be a decision we would have to make.

While I would not want my child to take this pill, I do think it is a good thing this is available to so many people who have made a mistake and would need this. Since you do not need you parents permission to obtain BCP, why should you need your parents permission to get this medication, although I would hope every girl would tell their parents.

I'm not sure how you see it as Nazi rule. I'd like to put the two together, but I'm not understanding how being able to obtain a medication without your parents knowledge if you choose to get it coincides with Nazi rule. Are they forcing all girls to take this whether they want to or not?

I'll give you the killing babies from botched abortions, but I'm going to have to disagree with your next point. I don't think young teenage girls should be punished with a baby. To an adult, whose mind has fully developed and can understand the situation that's one thing, but if a child becomes pregnant they are not fully mature enough to understand all the responsibilities that go along with having a baby, and if the choice is having a baby born to a child, who has no means to support that child, who may end up resenting that child from keeping her from doing what she wants to do (have a MIL like that who blames all her 6 kids that it's their fault she never was able to do all the things she wanted and it's been a "mind trip" she plays with her kids making them feel guilty they were even born), but if a child cannot support a baby that baby will not have the life they are deserving of, so if it's a choice of forcing a child to have a baby they can not afford to feed, cloth, send to good schools, health care (Heaven forbid the baby is born with a health problem and they can't afford the medical care that is needed), if the child is to grow up in a home where they are made to feel resented or unloved, I would say the better choice would be to take the medication before the baby becomes developed. Let God take his/her soul with him and let that decision be between the child, her parents, and God.

I agree the country is circling down the drain, but I don't think this is one thing that would be in that category. The country is changing. In my day and age as a youth boys were the last thing on my mind (and the last thing my parents allowed to be on my mind) until I graduated high school. I grew up in a small town. Everyone knew everyone. Girls did not date boys at such an early age, we were all in the 7th and 8th grade when we got our menstrual cycles, and health classes is where we learned about the importance of washing our hands and hygeine, not gays. In fact I was in my mid 20s when I learned that there actually were gay people. Gay meant happy :-) But times are changing and I do think this is a good thing.

My point (sorry it was so drawn out), but my point was I don't think you should lump all liberals into one group.

Brings back memories of innocence, but our school taught sex education. Many, many girls did babysitting to make money in those days so they knew what having babies entailed...besides the fact that you were sent away to a long distance relative or to an unwed mother home if you got pregnant, would be kicked out of school and was ostracized by your peers.

Parents would not let their daughters associated with someone who was pregnant because it was forbidden and their daughter's would get the reputation of being "easy" just because they were friends with a girl who was pregnant. There was no such thing as abortion.

There was a big stink in my town because, when I was a Junior, one of the classmates got pregnant and the school didn't expel her. Oh, the horror! The poor girl was ostracized, though, and had no friends. She quit school.

But, that's besides what I wanted to say....I don't believe in 15-yo should be allowed to have Plan B pill. I think parents should take an active role in sex education, besides the school, on consequences of getting pregnant.

Whatever happened to those teaching dolls that schools(?) used to have for both girls and boys to learn what having a real baby would do to a teen's life? I thought the hands-on education was a great idea. I think they should keep doing that.

My nephew just did that assignment this year. It was a little baby that kept a record of whether or not he picked it up/changed it's diaper/fed it when it cried. The grade was based on how attentive the kids were to the baby, I believe. My nephew and his friend actually had a blast with it, since they were two white boys and they had a black baby. His phone would beep, and he'd say "uh oh, Bobby needs help with the baby," and we would all laugh.

I think it's a great way to teach kids how crappy it can be to take care of a baby. LOL

First of all, liberals don't understand that no one BUT liberals care about what taxes Romney did or did not pay as long as he complied with the tax code that was in force at the time he filed his taxes. It has long been a very well-established principle that no one is obliged to pay one cent more in taxes than the law requires - and LIBERALS make better use of that principle than anyone.
