Reid says deal near

Posted: Oct 14, 2013

Where was all the screaming by him and other republicans when it came to spending billions and billions on a fake war and then tons of billions more to 'rebuild' what WE broke?

If memory serves, they were chomping at the bit to spend THESE $$ (with democrat's help) but now their fiscal conscience has somehow taken hold?

By their playbook war is a GREAT use of your taxdollar, but spending $$ on infrastructure and the PEOPLE of this contry are not.

And if progressives think they can sit back and watch the tea party people self-destruct, they are mistaken.

How do you feel about Germany?

How do I feel about Germany regarding what? (sm) - Libby

As far as medical care, EVERYONE gets healthcare in Germany, and I haven't been able to hear anything negative about it, so they must be doing a good job.

They also educate their young, and many have grown up to be valued scientists over the years.

Actually, in addition to Germany, other countries have come a long way with regards to modernization of their roads and bridges, etc.

Given what is happening here in the States, Germany (and Russia, France, England, Italy, etc.) certainly make the States look wayyyyyyyyy behind in technology.

These idiots in Congress are trying to prove that the USA is a deadbeat country by MAKING it so.

Again, I'm not sure exactly what you were referring to when you asked me the question.

By the way, please tell your son that I thank him very much for his service to this country. You must be very proud of him, as I would be if it were my son.

Too bad the government isn't treating our soldiers very well. Our soldiers certainly deserve MUCH better than they are receiving.

because our export of war. I asked about Germany because that is who started a war twice in the past. And all those countries in Europe would be speaking German if not for war.

GOVERNMENT treats our soldiers. I believe they deserve much more aftercare (physical health and resource centers) and other benefits once they come home from war.

As far as which war, obviously World Wars I and II were necessary to fight.

Wars like Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam were NOT necessary to fight, placing our young people in harm's way without even the necessity of bulletproof vests, IED-proof vehicles, etc.

I was actually complimenting your son for his service. I'm sorry if that didn't get through in my post to you.
More importantly these MOST of our wars are fought - for OUR economic gain
[ In Reply To ..]
and if you think THAT does not EARN us enemies think again.

JUST how outraged would WE be if we were invaded for trumped up reasons when it was clear that invasion was to mine one or more of our resources.

Here's the thing: Patriotism is not blind following - it is speaking out when your country is wrong so that it can correct its policies and NOT expose itself to true terrorism or to those just seeking revenge.

DEAL.
I agree with you post very much. (sm) - Libby

One of Bush's "explanations" about the war he started in Iraq was that it would pay for itself with oil. As far as I know, that hasn't happened.

My favorite sentence of your post is:

"Here's the thing: Patriotism is not blind following - it is speaking out when your country is wrong so that it can correct its policies and NOT expose itself to true terrorism or to those just seeking revenge."

I agree with that 1,000 percent!!

Thanks! Bush et al HOPE people forget - the FIRST lie they gave 4 the war
[ In Reply To ..]
which was about WMD that they 'knew' where they were.

OIL was not mentioned at all for the reasons we invaded.

Now just HOW MANY enemies do fair people think we earned by decimating (and rebuilding) that country?

Honest and fair people MUST concede that our foreign policy has sucked for many many decades and that the some of 'terrorism' we have experience in recent times is blowback - not saying I excuse it in ANY way. But it is what it is: You can only get away with invading and pillaging for so long...

And obama does not get a pass here: DRONES are a cowardly and not the answer.

Germany was 65+ years ago - you are comparing - apples to oranges

[ In Reply To ..]
And we SHOULD have been involved in WWII far earlier than we were...

Hopefully it will include - ousting Reid

Yes I am sure Reid will agree to a plan that - ousts HIMself.

Relax - he probably won't run again.

This shutdown is having a negative impact - on Republicans.

W.H. To Reid: Cut Deal With Lieberman Dec 16, 2009
The White House is encouraging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to cut a deal with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), which would mean eliminating the proposed Medicare expansion in the health reform bill, according to an official close to the negotiations. But Reid is described as so frustrated with Lieberman that he is not ready to sacrifice a key element of the health care bill, and first wants to see the Congressional Budget Office cost analysis of the Medicare buy-in. The analysis i ...

There was noticeable glee among supporters of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) Tuesday night. The upset victory of Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle in the Nevada Republican primary ensures that the subsequent months of campaigning will be fought as much over her record as his. By Wednesday morning, the flood of opposition research on Angle had burst wide open. Talking Points Memo reported that Angle once "spoke out strongly against fluoride, the substance known alternately for improving ...

Reid: We Won't Work With RomneyNov 02, 2012
by Ben Shapiro 2 Nov 2012, 10:24 AM PDT Today, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pledged to stonewall any attempt by Mitt Romney to pass his agenda if elected. “Mitt Romney’s fantasy that Senate Democrats will work with him to pass his ‘severely conservative’ agenda is laughable,” spat Reid. Can Someone Tell Me WHY Democrats, Especially Reid And ObamaSep 29, 2013
are against delaying Obamacare for a year? Watching C-Span and the House has been voting on funding the government again. One part of this bill is the vote on DELAYING the healthcare law until 1/1/2015. What the heck is wrong with that? After all, Obama DELAYED certain aspects of the law until 2015.  Delaying the healthcare law does not repeal it. Delaying the healthcare law doesn't defund it. So, what's wrong with that? Obama and Reid will not negotiate. That's not how ...

Tax Cuts Passed 277-148 And Reid/OmnibusDec 17, 2010
They worked late into the night to pass it. It will cost $858 billion but it gives everyone a "breather" for a while. Reid pulled the Omnibus bill off the table; i.e., just died.
