President off campaigning again....

Posted: Feb 26, 2013

Why, with the sequester looming in 3-4 days, does President Obama decide to FLY TO VA (wasting ANOTHER $184K or more in cost) to campaign on why the sequester should NOT take place???? WHY ISN'T HE IN WASHINGTON IN MEETINGS WITH BOTH SIDES TO COME TO SOME COMPROMISE?

ANSWER: Because he doesn't WANT a compromise. He made the sequester law/signed it, and now wants to blame the Republicans for it.

SOLUTION: Take the plane away from the President until he's out of office or until he decides to behave (instead of acting like a child), whichever comes first!

I posted the above on my FB page. Don't care how many of you don't like this post. It's the truth if you stop and think about it. Why does he take this crap to the people? They're not Congress and have NO vote in this. If you state, "Well, the constituents can write their congressman;" sure they can, but it's kinda late for that now. You don't think they will read the emails now, do you? THey're too busy fighting for what they think is right.

BTW, scare tactics are wearing thin with at least 1/2 the U.S. population. I see it every day with comments on different newspaper sites. A lot of people are calling his bluff this time. It's time the President starts acting like a president and stop the campaigning.

Where do you get this number? I see comments every day as well, from both sides of the issue.

What exactly do you want him to do or say? It is in hands of Congress at this point, not his (the President).

How are the people calling his bluff?

You are not privy to why the President goes where he does or why he does what he does. I don't think you are read in to his agenda, his motives, his reasons, etc., are you?

So you posted your thoughts to FB, so? How is that any different from people emailing their representative? Who in power is going to read what you have to say and is it going to change anything?

You're not getting my point. Figures. Read it again. - Truthhurts

I think it should be allowed to stand... - doe
[ In Reply To ..]
...as long as posters (including the one at whom the post was directed) are allowed to respond.

However, any wit, vocabulary, or turn of phrase that departs from the Parliamentary Rules of Snark can get you reported, accused of ridicule (ironically), and deleted.

Anyone who takes a shot should expect a response. It's not fair to have a condition where posters feel they will get in trouble for responding, and I think such a climate is being cultivated here.

Ridiculing someone and making them afraid to respond is what bullies do.
Why would anyone report that message? - Its just her opinion
[ In Reply To ..]
Why are they going to report it. I'm not sure if "a difference of opinion" is listed in the drop down menu. The poster wrote that a poster is not getting what she wrote about. So what if she wrote figures. That is her opinion. Are posters not allowed to voice their opinion, or maybe only one side is allowed to voice their opinion and not the other. Its sound like the poster is pretty tired of others not getting it. Sometimes figures fits if its the same thing over and over.

This is what is called having a thick skin, which is something a lot of posters need to do here instead of running to the moderator all the time wanting certain words removed because they don't like it.

She didn't call the person a name or use a swear word or anything like that, she just simply stated that it figures someone didn't get it. That is her opinion, which the last thing I knew we were allowed to have one here.

And what's up with the "lets see how long the post remains on here afterwards". Are you challenging the moderator to remove anything you don't like and if she doesn't do it within so many minutes you're going to make a stink?

I honestly don't know why someone would report a message that is not worthy of reporting just because they don't like the way posters phrase things. I'd feel kind of silly if it was me, but then I wouldn't do it because I've got a thick skin and believe everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion whether or not it agrees with me.

Besides, I think a few posts back there were a couple liberal posters who were upset the moderator was removing their insults and they made a point to say they like the sticky note at the top that says Moderation is kept minimum on this board.

I would say if she called you uneducated, stupid, liar or whatever is an insult it should be reported, but someone giving their opinion that it figures someone doesn't get something certainly is not worthy of reporting, but that's just me.

Silence doesn't speak volumes if the person hasn't even read the actual question yet, geez! Not everybody hovers over this board (except, apparently, that one disliker of everything LW), some people actually have a life.

Being someone who has had 4 or more posts deleted in one fell swoop recently would likely give one the impression that they're not allowed to say certain things or say things in a certain way on this board (hopefully I'm not presuming too much what doe intended by that, but that's my guess).

Truthhurts, I don't spend time considering your viewpoints - because your positions are all kneejerk. Oh,

[ In Reply To ..]
I know you're a sincere conservative. But the positions you state have about as much intellectual integrity as jello, taking whatever form will "explain" how the Democrats are totally wrong about what's discussed that moment. Without an expectation of some substance, something to learn from the investment of time, I don't have reason to read.

Now, here, I'll try again to offer you a chance to actually hurt me. Only truth will accomplish that: National Affairs. American Conservative. Two right of center, honest journals worth checking out. Quote them and I'll read it; may not agree, but will consider.

The Economist. Wall Street Journal (not opinion page). Two business papers that, by their nature, can't wander too far from fact* because smart people who base money decisions on information gained won't tolerate it.

*At least what's believed to be fact and reasonably honest analysis at the moment.

So, and I'm not out to hurt you but closed minds and refusal to believe their president doesn't walk on water drives me nuts.

You don't really read the Wall Street Journal, do you? It's owned by the same person you hate with a passion.

BTW, I read a few financials myself, and not just the opinion pieces. But I also read the REAL GOVERNMENT sites and believe me, they are eye openers.

And if you're wondering, I haven't worked in 2 years (not that I didn't want to work) so I have plenty of time to do everything I do and plenty of time to sort through the muck.

Have a good evening. ;-)

for the people and by the people (thus, the idea of representative govt). Unfortunately, the majority of the people don't pay attention to what their representatives are doing. If the president lays it out, then THE PEOPLE have the opportunity to find out more and decide if their reps are representing their believes and values. This is how it is supposed to work. It is our job to hold them accountable if we don't agree with what they are doing. We do this by voting in the next election. If uneducated voters only vote by party, that is a real disgrace.

"The bigger issue here -- which has been largely overlooked -- is that Republicans now are the key instrument effecting "diasaster capitalism" -- so well defined by Naomi Klein in her book, "The Shock Doctrine." Disaster capitalism is when special interests deliberately invite crisis and then seek to profit from it at the expense of many innocents. It is, in essence, political blackmail: In order to save ourselves from the effects of their decisions, we are told we must agree to screw ourselves, in ways dictated by the self-same perpetrators of our misery. This is authoritarianism writ large and has nothing at all to do with the tenets of a democracy or a republic."

Why Voter Suppression Is Mostly a Republican Tactic

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-05/why-voter-suppression-is-mostly-a-republican-tactic.html

Oh, after a while every week every national news - show was reporting on legal
[ In Reply To ..]
attempts in court to block people from voting in many constituencies across the country, illegal chicanery like "losing" tens of thousands of voters or "purging" them and making them fight to get back on the rolls, dishonest billboards attempting to frighten people away from the polls, bad people going to the polls and attempting to intimidate voters away, and so on.

So, can't recall any of it? Even though it went on for a good four years and more? You've forgotten the MTStars members who were here reporting attempts to disenfranchise them--people who'd voted through various elections all of a sudden removed from the rolls?

Romney wasn't much of a candidate, but he wasn't that bad either. My belief is the largest single factor in the loss was the outrage this corrupt anti-American activity generated. Principled people came out for democracy. AND minorities came out in unprecedented numbers to spit right back and demand their right to vote.

Millions of conservatives stopped calling themselves Republicans because of this--outraged. Millions literally arranged for babysitters and warned their work they might not be in because they'd vote if they had to stand there from dawn into the night, some of whom often don't bother to vote. But, boy, they did this time.

You see, by this time EVERYONE knew what the GOP was up to. The theft of a presidential election by destroying the American way. And the good guys won, and the bad guys got a little of what they deserve. I say a little, because I'd put every person who supported this on a one-way armada to whatever broken little third-world nation finally took them in.
Ever hear of ACORN? 2008 presidential run? That group certainly - wasn't pushing Republican votes
[ In Reply To ..]
so what's the excuse for their voter fraud? They were in Obama's pocket from the get-go. He was once their organizer.

We'll never know how many fraudulent votes weren't caught by the workers at ACORN - and they're not exactly disbanded either - just changed their name, so I wouldn't doubt it if they were up to their old shenanigans in this past election.

There's no excuse for promoting that libel. - POOR victimized Acorn, which has
[ In Reply To ..]
been intensively investigated. Bearing false witness is a sin, whether a person is religious or not.

[ In Reply To ..]
As someone pointed out below election theft is on both sides.

Every election there are people trying to cheat. I remember in the Gore/Bush election they found someone with a voting machine in the trunk of their car cranking out votes for Gore and more Republican dominated districts 2 ladies were caught throwing votes in the trash.

Every election the democrats do whatever they can to suppress/not count the military's vote because the military is more conservative. Just a fact.

Then of course we have this election where they decided to let people vote through the internet (oh yeah right, no voter fraud there). Heck I could sit up for 8 hours just casting a vote over and over. Then there was the woman who voted for Obama 6 times (and proud of it). Yup no election fraud on the democrats side.

[ In Reply To ..]
Why don't you start trying to see the other side instead of always posting "Your candidate LOST...get over it!" I'm not jealous because the people who voted for Obama the second time around never took the blinders off and only heard the "FREE" word again.

I can't help it if the president is a better liar and better bull shiller than the other presidential candidates were, and if he doesn't watch out, it's going to bite him where the sun doesn't shine before his 4 years are over IF he doesn't destroy this country any further.

I spent the first 2 years in the first term of this president looking for something good in him but all I saw was how he spent the taxpayers money on items that weren't relevant to being president. Forced myself to keep on looking (at he and his actions) but the more I looked, the worse HE looked. The most divisive, arrogant, hateful, personal spendaholic party president (but with taxpayer money), and even saw some racism from him in his earlier presidency.

And now, the lies keep on a' comin' and the blame still keeps on a' comin'. He's worse than Slick Willie and I voted for him the second time around.

Truth does hurt and it's a shame that the truth will hurt even more when the people see how the wool was pulled over their eyes, not once, not twice, but for 8 whole years...unless they wise up over this year of 2013.

Dislike all you like but that's MY HONEST opinon.

Like I said, feel free to bring Romney back and run him again if he was so great.

Obama is not evil.. he just doesn't share the same political opinions as you do. Thats not being evil.. just being smart.

I suffered through eight years of Bush,as president, and many years prior to that had to tolerate him as governer.. and I was ashamed that he was apparently the best this country could do but I accepted that he was my president nad was hopefully doing his best as bad as that way. I didn't moan and groan about it and accuse him of every evil known to mankind... I just hoped for better. and got it with Obama.
