OMG! Are we now bordering on treason? This needs to stop! sm

A group of 47 Republican senators has written an open letter to Iran's leaders warning them that any nuclear deal they sign with President Barack Obama's administration won’t last after Obama leaves office.

;

I gave you a like because - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I like that the Republicans are doing this. They're showing love for country.

Love for their country??? Is that what its called? - nana7

[ In Reply To ..]
They haven't shown love for this country since this entire administration took office. It is nothing but a power struggle between the two sides and neither one is willing to compromise on anything. Remember the comment Mitch McConnell was caught saying under his breath while his mike was still on, He will not support anything that helps Obama succeed as president. So in the meantime they are destroying our country. All of them.

I just hope they are not underestimating the Iranians and this blow up in our face.

Yes. I stand by my post. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Because someone has to do what is right and not just follow along lockstep.
Good for you. I stand by your post 100% also - The adults have to do right

Go pubs!

OBAMA HAS SHOWN NO LOVE FOR THIS COUNTRY - SINCE TAKING OFFICE

get your facts straight. Crackhead is the one running all over the world apologizing for America, criticizing the US, disregarding and an all laws he does not like.
Why do you consider him to be a "crackhead"? - Splain THAT one.

our system is so broken. - nana7

[ In Reply To ..]
The whole system needs to be overhauled from top to bottom. The politicians are acting like 3 year olds and have been for years now and getting away with it. We WERE the greatest country in the world and now we are are the greatest laughing stock in the world. Every last politician in Washington should be run out, fired, tar and feathered. It is a shame that the political party is what is most important to any of them from top to bottom. The security of our country and our people are somewhere near the bottom of their priority list. They all should be ashamed of themselves.

I think it is far fetched to call it treason though.

Ultimate in destabilization of the government - Arrest them

[ In Reply To ..]
This cannot be allowed. Extrapolate this to other situations, Republican or Democrat in office, any presidential action or action taken by our Secretary of State.

Sickening turn of events.

These people do not love their country, they hate our president.

Funny how the Pubs want destabilization of govmt, - but dont seem to understand - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
what complete destabilization could mean. Such as anarchy, civil war, or being taken over by another country.

Pubs don't want destabilization of government. - They want less government.

[ In Reply To ..]
HUGE difference.

Conservatism 101.
Less govmt. REGULATION, so they can rob - the middle class of even more money.
[ In Reply To ..]
Naaah -0 The dems have been doing enough of that - No republican has robbed any middle income
[ In Reply To ..]
Middle income does better under republicans. Its the democrats that are robbing us.

It's middle income, not class. The dems are trying to rip middle income. They have no class.
They've left the door wide open for US companies - to do just that. And who benefits?
[ In Reply To ..]
Gee - I wonder.
Yeah, thanks Billy for that - Wonder no more
[ In Reply To ..]
It was and is happening under democrats.
Want a Better Economy? History Says Vote Democrat! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
•Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents

•Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents

•Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)

•Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)

•Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents

•The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations

(see link below)

Those pesky little facts don't lie, and those are the facts.
Ts belongs on comedy board - Obama destroyed everything listed
[ In Reply To ..]
and he's a Dum...oh wait, he's Dem/Commie
You've got to love the simplicity of the conservative message. - LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
This is an article about historic statistics. Instead of actually presenting an argument to refute it, the conservative argument in its entirely is simply the mantra:

"Obama destroyed everything listed."

That is just so much easier than a reasoned argument and actually doing something along the lines of reasoning or actually thinking.

Obama did it because, hey, reasons!

LOL

Conservative big ideas for America's future: "Obama bad." "Hillary bad." "Take our country back."

10,000 dislikes - well deserved

[ In Reply To ..]
Arrest them? Oh pulllease, they have not done anything to warrant being arrested. However, on the other hand, not going through congress and following the laws of the country IS deserving of being arrested.

Republicans love our country and is doing what is right for the country. Throwing in a hateful remark that they hate our president is, well, hateful in itself.

OBAMA DOES NOT LOVE "OUR COUNTRY" - HE HATES THE USA

[ In Reply To ..]

"ARREST" HIM.

Well then, let's hope that this lawless president (sm) - Abby

Missing the Big Picture: These Idiots Have Undermined Themselves. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Major stupidity on the part of these idiots in the section of the letter that reads:

"The next president could revoke such an executive agreement with the stroke of a pen and future Congresses could modify the terms of the agreement at any time."

This gang of conservative "intellectuals" -- oxymoron -- have basically just conceded the authority of the President of the United States to write Executive Orders and take executive action with the stroke of his pen.

PRETTY STUPID!

Spend year after year after painful year spoon feeding the American public the false narrative that the President of the United States has taken unlawful actions with Executive Orders, repeat the incessant falsehood that President Obama is somehow taking action that is beyond the scope of the presidential powers outlined in the Constitution, keep repeating the false mantra that Obama is somehow the "lawless president," and then in one fell swoop concede he actually does have the authority to take those actions.

Painfully ignorant move on their part.

They've undermined themselves, but the entire - nation is paying dearly for it.

[ In Reply To ..]

They have not undermined themselves and we are not - paying for it.

[ In Reply To ..]
Actually quite the contrary. This faux outrage about someone er hum "breaking the outlaw". That kind of "outrage" should be kept for the O and H
The post you're responding to doesn't argue that. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You're replacing the argument here with a straw man argument of your own making. This post does not say anything about "someone er hum 'breaking the outlaw'." LOL

Republicans have admitted in this letter to Iran that the President of the United States actually does have the power of the pen that they have spent years accusing him of using unlawfully. They have undermined themselves. LOL. Pathetically stupid and painful admission of their false narrative painting Obama as somehow lawless and then informing Iran that a future president would have the power that they claim heretofore does not exist.

The right-wing's instructing Iranian leaders regarding the power of the pen of the presidency undermines their own ignorant rhetoric. They're flaunting the use of the presidential pen, something they've convinced their mindless followers is lawlessness. It's just that simple.

Morons!!!!!!!!!!

My Take - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
Well, if Obama didn't go around Congress all the time with his EOs, they would not have had to write this letter. However, someone has to restore sanity and take away one man's rule over a country that is not supposed to be his job description.

He hired in as president of a country, not dictator, king or any other title.

It is the job of the executive branch to negotiate treaties not Congress. nm - VTMT

More on that....the Logan Act - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The Logan Act prohibits any “Private correspondence with foreign governments” and reads; “Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.” The Supreme Court ruled that Congress cannot and should not conduct foreign affairs; that power rests in the Executive Branch exclusively.

In the 1936 Supreme Court case, United States v. Curtiss-Wright Export Corp, the Court held that “all ability to conduct foreign policy is vested in the President. It is given implicitly and by the fact that the executive, by its very nature, is empowered to conduct foreign affairs in a way that Congress cannot and should not. The Republicans cannot, accept that yes, “all ability to conduct foreign policy is vested in the President;” regardless of the fact he is an African American man or that Republicans’ allegiance is to a foreign power; in this case Israel.

Does that include making a back-door deal with a - sponsor of terrorism?

[ In Reply To ..]
Obama's negotiation is NOT a back-door deal - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
What the 47 republicans did, by way of contrast, IS, in fact, back-door business. It's an embarrassment. What's even more embarrassing than the letter itself is the blind ignorance and arrogance with which it was written. What a bunch of dolts.

Excuse me - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
And you all say it is okay for Mr. O to constantly crank out EOs bypassing Congress.

Come on. I think there have to be newer versions of this information.

We should have impeached Mr. O so long ago and I hope all of us can live long enough to see him out of the office.

No Hillary and no Bush either.

I can just imagine the uproar if... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
the democrats in Congress went over President Bush's head and instead of voting for military intervention in Iraq sent a letter to Sadam Hussain saying to hang in there that there soon would be a democrat for president.

These senators are certainly pretty confident that the republicans are going to take back the White House in 2016.

If not charges, they should all face a formal rebuke.

Remember when Obama whispered to Putin - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
and told him he'd have more freedom after he was re-elected.

Works both ways.

The current senators probably don't trust the president. Most of America doesn't. Most of the world doesn't either.

Yes, more freedom to slap more santions on Putin's - ugly behind. n.

^ Is this the conservative media fantasy version of historical events? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
In the true version of events, President Obama was talking to Dmitry Medvedev and was overheard asking for time - "particularly with missile defense" - until he was in a better position politically to resolve such issues.

"I understand your message about space," replied Medvedev.

"This is my last election ... After my election I have more flexibility," Obama said, because he knew at the time he would be facing Willard Mitt Romney and he was confident of his own reelection.

"I will transmit this information to Vladimir," said Medvedev.

And Obama was later reelected, and conservatives still can't get over it.

No that's not treason. Please research what treason REALLY is - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Not everything is treason if it doesn't agree with Obama. Sheesh! And no it does not need to stop.

What needs to stop is saying that anything that republicans do is treason. In fact quite the opposite, what he did was treason. We have a congress, not getting their approval is treason.

Cheesers man.

Wrong, they acted against US law. - sm
