Job numbers really down in May :(

Posted: Jun 1, 2012

Tired of hearing, "Worse than expected." Can't the pros do better than that?;

Yep, and consumer confidence way down. Also, - stock market lost ALL earnings of 2012.nm

Stocks are on official summer vacation - Sell in May and Go Away

Check the graphs. It is true. It might be worse during presidential election years as the big-shot Wall Street, CEOs are interested in trying to manipulate the political picture.

This is sad - Conservative

On top of all the other bad news, heard the real unemployment is acutally 14.8%. No wonder confidence is way down. So many people are under employed, or not working at all. It is pretty scary. Also, I heard that today Europe now wants us to bail them out, too. Where does it all end? We are in such bad shape ourselves and they want us to prop up Greece? It just keeps getting crazier. Our paychecks keep getting smaller and smaller and the burdens bigger and bigger.

I think it will end when the powers to be finally - sm

Instead, if Romney wins, look for more wars.

America should take care of her own first; then we would truly be a nation where "democracy" looks like a way of living that is very attractive, instead of discovering it because we bombed their country and civilians to smithereens.

The economists have been predicting a slow down for a while. The economic situation in Europe is not helping.

(ha ha)with congress actually putting the country before their own greed, or (b) republicans take over, Ryan plan is put into effect, and we go further into despair. It seems corporations are hesitant to act until they know the outcome in November so everything is again on hold because our corporations really only care about their shareholders and their bottom line. I would like to have hope for things getting better but it is hard. With democrats in power, republicans have shown they will stonewall anything that could help, and with republicans in power, we will revert back to Bush policies and look where that got us. They may create more jobs, but what kind of jobs exactly? Well paying jobs? Jobs to support the middle class lifestyle? I don't believe so. There will be a tipping point hopefully for most Americans when they will wake up and realize they have to (1) VOTE, and (2) vote for their own economic interests and not get caught up in the social issues that republicans bombard them with so they will not vote intelligently. I am an independent BTW, and I blame the whole congress, not just one party. It saddens me greatly when I see so many cuts in education because an intelligent, free-thinking, informed voter is a danger for all of them.

5.2 million job loss under Bush - Interpretations confound me.

[ In Reply To ..]
From 20007 to March 2009 (and yes, I do include the 1st two months of Obama's term as "Bush's fault"--we were trying to put a tourniquet on the Bush debacle then) we LOST almost 5.2 million jobs. So, in May of this year we are UP AGAIN, 69,000 jobs. We have been rising continually, but it is "Obamas fault that we have "only" increased 69,000 jobs?" So there are some people who believe that going with Romney will help? He is the Bain Capital guy who offshored jobs and shut down business in order to increase his investment profit! He was the governor of Massachusetts state when Massachusetts ranked 47th in job creation during Romney's four years as governor.

Republican/Conservative logic amazes me.

We are not talking about what was happening under Bush - Staying on track

[ In Reply To ..]
Was expecting some kind of message like this. Whenever there is something unfavorable under Obama, someone always has to say Well Bush this or Bush that. The only thing is we are not talking about Bush or the past. We are talking about the present.

Unless this is Bush's fault because he went to the WH for the unveiling of his portrate, he has not been involved in anything in politics and the WH. This bad news is Obama's baby, not Bush's.

First thing Obama did after - number came out

[ In Reply To ..]
was hit the news stations listing everyone to blame for the horrible numbers. Never once took credit. It was everyone else's fault. I am so sick of Obama's contant whining and complaining of. He needs to grow a pair and man up. No respect for this nitwit.

WE are talking about 69,000 more jobs in 1 month - staying on track

[ In Reply To ..]
as opposed to the Bush 5.2 million job loss and not going back to more of the Republican trickle down economy.
The discussion is about the current time now, not the Bush era - Staying on track

If people have a problem with Bush tell it to Pelosi. She should have impeached his ***. But did she do anything....noooooo. Which leads me to believe she was getting payoffs not to do her job.

Bush was no Einstein. I won't disagree with you about that, but we are not talking about Bush. We are talking about what is happening now, in this year. It's not good. It has nothing to do with Bush. If this was the first year of Obama's term then I could understand. NOT after 3 years of being in office. The time for blame is over. The time to be a leader is now. Neither of which he is doing or is.

The topic we are discussing in this thread is "Job numbers down in May". In fact it's not even blaming one side. It's an obvious statement about last month not 3 years ago.
Considering we are - still dealing with the
[ In Reply To ..]
smoking pile W left in his outbox, and statistical data clearly demonstrates that the minute Obama's policies were in place, the jobs loss graph flipped from negative to positive territory, it is almost impossible to have a comprehensive discussion on this subject without bringing W into the mix.

Perspectives gained by these comparisons have nothing to do with blame and everything to do with assessing the meaning of this month's numbers. No matter how you slice it, it still represents gain. I am grateful that we are no longer bleeding 750,000 jobs per month.

BTW, you're not in charge of where this discussion can and cannot go.
BTW - - Staying on track
[ In Reply To ..]
I was trying to bring the conversation back to what the OP posted. Not some hate and blame Bush game.

BTW - We are not still dealing with the mess Bush left. This is all Obummers baby now.

The OP's post was titled Job numbers down in May.

I'd be more than happy to have a discussion about the mess Bush left, but that would be a different thread. If you want to start one would be happy to join in the conversation. Or if you would like me to start one would be happy to. I was just trying to keep the discussion about what the OP started the thread on - the current job stats.

Sorry you misunderstood.
What part about Obama's iincrease of 69,000 jobs - sm

equates (that means equals which means "the same") that the job number is down in May? Apparently OP practices the Conservative math technique of lying. There, we are back to talking about the OP. Glad to oblige.
It means May was the 27th consecutive month of - of private sector jobs growth
[ In Reply To ..]
Along the way those positive numbers have had some ups and downs, but have not shown a net loss since February 2010. The graph clearly demonstrates the positive effect of the Recovery Act signed in February 2009. In March 2009, federal assistance for GM was announced. Jobs loss numbers for March and April 2009 remained about the same, resembling Ws ugly picture, while the funds were being made available and distributed.

By May here was a dramatic positive shift in the trend while recovery programs were being established and implemented at the state and local levels. One year after the Recovery Act, by March 2010, jobs gains were posted, and the growth trend has been steadily increasing since then. Of note, there was another significant upward shift in private sector jobs added momentum after Small Business Jobs Act was signed.

But here, don't take my word for it. You can see this for yourself with this nifty little interactive "bikini graph" tool.

IMO, this is no small feat, considering how adept the cons in Congress have become at weapons of mass obstruction deployment (can you say record-breaking filibuster abuse?) and the state of the global economy. I trust this helps clear up your confusion over who's misunderstanding what.

and SPENT MORE in 3-1/2 years than Bush in 8 years. Obama fixed nothing. Obama a complete failure.
Those with Bush Derangement Syndrome - Completely incapable of reason
[ In Reply To ..]
any reasoning. Libs and Dems can only repeat what Obama lists as talking points and repeat it over and over, as if repetition makes it true. Funny how they go back and want to blame Bush for almost 4 years back, but Obama takes no blame for his complete failure and failure of his Kenseyian policies. Obama can only come out for the end zone dance and pat himself on the back for OBL. Now Obama's blaming Greece for Obama policies not working. Obama is a major jackA_S.

There is A NET LOSS OF jobs und Obama after spending trillions of taxpayer money. Of those lost 775,000 + are women under Obama regime. Obama could have easily forgone all the spending and returned the money to the taxpayers instead handing out payments to Solyndra and other green energy flops. Obama could have approved the drilling leases, not canceled them. Obama could cut the 2700 new regs through EPA (one of them to allow infrared aerial view to spy on cows farting - yeah real beneficial that reg.) Obama could have approved Canadian pipeline.

Obama is like a fish out of water and is totally clueless. Let him take his littkle commie ideas and move to Somalia - I hear it's lovely this time of year. Obama would fit right in.

I, too, am tired of everybody blaming everything on "W". I do not believe signing NAFTA (free trade) which was done by Clinton 2 mos. prior to his leaving office helped our country. That is going back even further than Bush. I just don't think everything that was bad happened in any one administration.
