....able to clean up the increasingly foul name-calling of Obama that's going on here. Maybe those who can't stand Obama are just getting insensed because they feel less certain now about his defeat in November, so they're flailing around; but does stating that Obama "is a Marxist" and "is a Muslim," which are both just flat-out lies, sort of border on libelous? I don't know for sure, thus the reason I haven't reported the posts; but those posters are simply not worth having a discussion with.

I have a feeling that some of the posts lately are made by the very same person who is trying to make it seem like different people who are always agreeing heartily with her posts. If that's the case, that's just sad.

Obama's mentor in his formative years was Frank Marshall Davis, a Marxist. I give you his friends, Anita Dunn (whose hero is Mao), Van Jones (avowed Communist), and the many others. Don't forget, in college when he wasn't hanging with the Choom Gang, he was hanging with the Marxist professors. It's not brain surgery.

Some of my best friends in high school were male. Does that make me a male? I did not vote on Obama; however, it is smart in politics to take everything with a grain of salt. As well, the man is our President. 'nuff said. Respect the office. Don't like the man? We can vote! Change the person who holds the Office of the President of the United States. This is AMERICA people. Free speech, etc. I am also of the opinion that a politician pretty much gives up a lot of freedom when he/she runs for office. I think no libel here. I am not going to demonize the man just because we do not share political affiliation.

wouldn't you agree that by the time you reach college age, you are hanging with peers who are pretty much like you? I don't think a student who parties all week, doesn't study, is drunk all the time, is going to hang out with the class nerds. (I'm not talking about anyone specific here). I'm just saying by the time you are that age, you hang with people who you have things in common with. Obama is STILL hanging with the radicals. That's all I'm saying. I cannot respect him. That's just the way it is. I can respect the office, but what is that? Does that mean I can't say what I think about the man who holds that office? While this is still a free speech country, that's what I shall do.

I don't care if the posts are removed or not, but trying to have discourse is pointless when people stop debating and just start slinging mud around.

I feel embarrassed at some of the things that are said on this board. We're MTs, not 4-year-olds. That goes for people of both political parties.

Every time I see a post that makes their point, and then finishes up with "Oh, but those Marxists are too dumb..." or "Yeah but try reasoning with a pub..." it just cheapens the whole post and ruins whatever point they were trying to make.

It's not worth bothering a moderator about, in my opinion. Tattling is just as childish. It's just a dead end to what could have been a good debate.

It seems like they have never heard of patients delaying care because they cannot afford health insurance. They have never heard of people with children who go hungry because they are paid minimum wage and can barely keep a roof over their heads. Yes, there are many non-MTs on this board.

Someone already complained that they couldn't call Romney a name, so I wrote a message and said if people want to call a republican politician a name I will leave it and if people want to call a democrat politician a name I will leave it. Two posters, both who are on the liberal side said that's great and they were fine with that.

I have also made it clear I will not be deleting messages because people do not agree with the content. The board is for posters to express their viewpoints on politics, politicians, and issues that are important to them.

If you feel a post is not worth replying to that is your option. Simply don't reply.

People on the conservative side feel the posts against conservative politicians are lies and people on the liberal side feel the posts against liberal politicians are lies. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I will not be editing or deleting posts because others do not agree with them.

I'm a really reasonable person, which is why I didn't just hit "REPORT," "REPORT"!! and questioned if stating something as fact (more than just an opinion) and has been proven untrue would fall under that category or not.

I see regular ol' name-calling on both sides all the time, and I can always let it roll off my back if it's aimed at me. I do tend to simply not reply to those that I think aren't worth the blood pressure elevation. :-D I just felt a little uncomfortable with some of the physically aggressive things that were being said in the thread a couple of threads down from this one, but I'll leave it at that.

I'm grateful that we have that freedom of speech on this board....some boards I've seen won't even let you type certain words and names!!! Your post won't go through if it has the word or name in it, so people resort to using "code words" that are similar to the actual word. What a shame.

I understood you were not asking to have any posts removed. I wrote that as a blanket statement for other posters as I have received emails before asking me to delete posts and it was simply because of a difference of opinion.

Emotions are running high in politics, especially with the election coming up. It's understandable for posters to get mad and sound off.

I also read that both sides feel their candidate is being treated unfairly and both sides are saying that lies are being said. Guess that just politics.

So not a problem about your post. I never took it to mean that you wanted me to remove any posts.

With a click of a mouse, they can move to another post or topic, yet they choose not to. I agree with you wholeheartedly. If I do not care for a post, I just will not finish it and move to something I want to read. Nor would I report someone because I did not care for their post. No matter how much I may disagree with a post or poster, as long as they are not offensive or vulgar, there is no reason they should be denied an opportunity to make their comments.

I don't think anyone expects a message to be deleted because we don't agree with it. Some posts are plainly harrassing, however, making it a hostile environment for everyone - particularly those who find themselves on the receiving end of personal attacks and misdirected anger.

BTW again - Liberals and Democrats on this board wrote an open note to the moderator that they WANTED to be able to call any politician a name that they wanted (go back and read their posts), because they used very foul language to describe Romney and his wife and wanted to continue with the namecalling of Romney and his family. I recently started helping an elderly friend keep up with his bills. He has no computer and prefers mailing checks. It will cost almost $50 bucks for a refill packet of, I believe, 150 checks from his bank. Has anyone used a check-printing service that charges less? I have seen ads for these services but since they will get his bank acct info, I am being extremely careful.
