Gallup: Guess who Americans trust the most

Posted: Apr 21, 2010

As much as business leaders, more than Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernacke, more than dems in Congress, more than pubs in Congress, more than tea party leaders (what leaders), more than Tim Geitner and more than labor union leaders (the last three being in a statistical dead heat for last place)?

O-B-A-M-A.  Oh, now would ya look at that?  After all that witchin' and moanin and carrying on.  Go O !

Might wanna rethink that 24/7/365 O-slam campaign strategy. Didn't work in 2008 and doesn't seem to be working now.

You could try a more positive approach, such as explaining a coherent plan that lays out GOP policies and proposals aimed at solving our nation's problems. Warning: Be prepared to engage viable, INTELLIGENT debate on those issues once they are out there, as opposed to your generic, run-of-the-mill, openly vicious hostility toward informed dialog.

Things were slow getting started, largely because of the obstructionism getting health care taken care of, but since then he has been a busy boy. Within 12 hours of passing the HCR bill he was signing with Russia over nuclear arms reduction, and then he initiated off shore drilling. He is working now on the Wall Street banking reform issue. This is all in between dealing with supreme court justice appointments, attending funerals for 29 dead miners that should NOT be dead, and dealing with idiotic things like birthers and teabaggers. The man is working hard and will go down in history of one of our greatest presidents.

Okay, bash away. I don't care and will not be responding. It is my well informed opinion and I will be sticking to it.

He is making everyone to be a villain all while making himself the hero. This will only last for so long, especially when the middle class finds out what a liar the man is, ALL taxes are going to increase. There is no way around it. Our strongest ally, Israel may not be for long with the way Obama has disrespected it, and Obama is the least qualified president in history, will prove to be one of, if not the worst of all. Sorry, but you really need to wake up. I am not bashing you. You said you would not respond to us anyway, right? Figures.
Oh, please. That was a silly thing to say. - He is clearly not
[ In Reply To ..]
working at "trashing" the country. I couldn't stand Bush and think he was the biggest baffoon every elected to just about any office, but I would not say he was "working at trashing the country." That is what he ended up doing, but I wouldn't say it was anything he did consciously.

Btw, why would you bother saying to someone "I am not bashing you" and then turn around and follow it up with a sarcastic dig? Does not seem very genuine of you. I can see why he/she doesn't want to bother responding.

Lots of presidents went to Ivy League colleges - doesn't make them any smarter than those who didn't. Early on, there were presidents who not only didn't have a college education, they didn't have much of an education at all - case in point, Abraham Lincoln.

I agree he's basically a good man, but I think you're pushing it a bit by saying that just because he went to Harvard means he's brilliant.
I can see what you are seeing, but beyond the - Harvard degree, I think
[ In Reply To ..]
that he has a lot of intellectual curiousity. All reports I have seen suggest that he truly wants to understand everything he is dealing with, and think that indicates intelligence as well. Intelligent people, IHMO, usually are open to learning more. This is not a Bush bash, honestly, but I think he would have done better if he had had some, as well. I think he, at least at times, just took what people told him, mostly from sources who already agreed with him. I think that hurt him in the long run. I don't know about past presidents, but I honestly think that most intelligent people always want to learn more.

[ In Reply To ..]
I suspect it is fair to figure that he was a "constitutional" (feel better now?? Looks like the typo/spelling police are out in force today-silly attempt at deflection) scholar. For the record he graduated in 1991 magna cum laude or in the top 10% of his class. Maybe his transcripts are no ones business. He already presented a birth certificate and there are some that still insist he is not a citizen. Don't think I would bother either.

I believe Obama... - nnn

[ In Reply To ..]
is more than likely a very intelligent man. He doesn't appear stupid at all; however, I also believe he doesn't have a clue about how to handle the issues that plague our country. I think he takes direction from someone else and those "others" are going to be our demise. Not that he doesn't agree with them at times but he just doesn't act like a man with any convictions and the one's he has are hurting this country. When I watch him on the news, he seems like a man who wishes he hadn't taken on these responsibilities but, since he has, he is not backing down even though some of his decisions are going to hurt this country. He reminds me of a little boy whose been given a responsibility that he thought he could handle but now realizes he can't and he's just going to try to ride out the storm and hope he makes it through. Obama is no dummy but he lacks the experience it takes to make rational decisions and he uses his title to throw his weight around, whether it's good for the American people or not.
THANK YOU for a rational response!!!! - It is appreciated, truly!
[ In Reply To ..]
I personally think he really had not been given a chance. I think he walked into a mess and was very focused on passage of health care reform because he has stated on more than one occasion that health care issues were responsible for a large percentage of the economic issues that Americans are having-not all but a lot. Now that that has passed, he has been a busy boy and the economy is starting to look up. He has been busy working with Russia regarding nuclear weapons, initiated the off shore drilling-not too crazy about this myself, but he also initiated some jobs program in the energy sector to go with it so I guess I can live with that. He is now dealing with picking a new supreme court justice and wall street reform, among other things. I think he is picking up steam and will in the end do a lot of good, IMHO.

Again, thank you SO much for the reasonable response. It is fantastic to see here.
I hope he can do some good too... - nnn
[ In Reply To ..]
I think that's what any American with any common sense at all would want and any president is going to make his/her share of mistakes but some of his decisions are going to be very painful to take. They are gonna "leave a mark" I'm afraid. :)

[ In Reply To ..]
It's very inaccurate. Look it up. The others aren't much better.

Hello. Try to stay on task here. This poll is specific to - handling the economy.

[ In Reply To ..]
You know...the current hot topic. The political analysis from both sides of the aisle agree will be the number one issue in November.

Conclusion: Apples to oranges arguments make you look foolish.

Hello......you can pick and choose which ever poll you agree with - Attitude adjuster

[ In Reply To ..]
She's not comparing apples to oranges. You just choose to pick whichever poll you agree with. Polls change on a daily basis and even the poll makers state that.

Any poll can say anything, and the truth is nobody know where they get their figures from. I don't know anyone (and I have a very large family and friend base) and even they don't know anyone who has ever been contacted by polls. So nobody has any idea where they get their figures information from.

But as for handling the economy..."you know, the current hot topic" There is not a lot of confidence in the the present "One". A poll who supports the current one can say anything they want. The people of the country speak louder than any poll made up of nebulous "pollsters". November will reflect that and it's not going to make a difference what a poll says. The dissatisfaction of the country with all these "current topics" will reflect then.

Conclusion: Trying to make others look foolish always ends up backfiring in your face.

Empower yourself with knowledge.
Resorting to basing an argument on - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
say it ain't so, denial, pretense, throwing up a trite slam, repeating oneself, assuming an omniscient presence by presuming to speak for the entire country, and winding the incoherence up by resorting to soothsaying and fortune telling...not all that convincing. I will give you this much. You do seem have first-hand knowledge of the the attraction between backfiring arguments and the face of fools.

If I want your advice, I'll ask for it. Suffice to say that ego-driven burning desire for personal empowerment bears no relation to the pure joy emancipation from ignorance and compassion brings to life.

Thank you, Socrates.

Unlike Gallup, Rasmussen has - a reputation for

[ In Reply To ..]
being conservative leaning and is known to use weighted questions designed to skew the results in that direction. For those of us who regularly follow polls, this is palpably evident. Their numbers are always off by 4-6 points when compared to the others an that's not inclujding the customary 2-4 point margin of error.

Yes, majority know that Obama is a joke. - CAN HE BE RECALLED?

[ In Reply To ..]
This president, if anything, has stalled the recovery. We would probably be out of the recession by now without his trillions in spending, like the useless useless stimulus that did nothing but HURT the economy rather than help. --clueless president.

And again, just because you want to believe - it does not make it so.

[ In Reply To ..]
All you have to do is Google. The economy IS turning around. That is a documented fact. I feel sad for you that you find it more important to appear right and support an incorrect position than acknowledge and appreciate that the economy is getting better. It is almost like you are wishing him to fail, and now that he is not and there is documented evidence to prove it, you just keep hanging on to the same old, tired baloney that is just not true. I for one am happy things are getting better. Well, mostly. Our state obviously got some funds because now it seems like half the roads in the city are suddenly being being repaired and it is frustrating to try and get anywhere right now. But you know what? It means there are some more people working and that makes it worth it.

Yep, if things had been left alone, we would no doubtbe out - of this mess by now..... NM
