President Obama has finally shown his birth certificate proving he is a US citizen.  He also has decided to let his college records and papers be open to public viewing.

Oh yeah...and BTW.....April fools...or as I like to call it....Liberal Day!

;

I would laugh - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
if it wasn't so sad that he won't share that info.

I'm not a Birther so I have no interest in seeing another birth certificate - or college records from his teenage years

[ In Reply To ..]
I think that's a lot of nonsense at a time when all of our elected officials need to be about what is important.

Totally understand - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It is much better to know very little about our president's life before he became president. Much easier to listen to the lame stream media and their absolute LOVE of the man who is helping to destroy our country even more than Bush did.

Besides, I agree there are more important issues...like the fact that Obama ordered air strikes in Libya without congress' approval which is unconstitutional.

Yeah, who cares if a president now or future was born in - America, Africa, Libya, Canada, or wherever

[ In Reply To ..]
Ya know...being a birther is a good thing. Since it clearly states that the POTUS needs to be born in America. Personally, I don't know where the guy was born because he has not shown his BC yet. The "birthers" as you call them just want to know. What is do wrong with that? Since he has not shown his BC yet.

Then you got the absolute stupidity that Whoopie stated about how every white guy who ran for office never had to show a BC, only Obama. He's the only man ever required to show a BC.

Yeah to birthers....you keep em straight.

Don't forget that Whoopi - sm

conveniently forgot to mention that John McCain's citizenship was in question during the '08 campaign as well because he was born outside of the US on a US military base. John McCain is...OMG...he's WHITE! Racist...how dare they ask a WHITE guy to show his BC. OMG...the absolute horror. LOL!

Sorry...couldn't resist throwing out the race card.....so many people do it nowadays. I just wanted to be in in the "in crowd." ;)
Huh? - no1joe
[ In Reply To ..]
I would L-O-V-E love to see you say that to a black person's face, which you wouldn't, I bet.

If you want to be part of the "in crowd," that crowd being the non-ignorant one, you would need to learn the fact that many people (bigots) have a HUGE problem with the fact that President Obama is black. It has nothing to do with his politics, rather his skin color. This ridiculous birther issue is a desperate attempt to discredit Obama. The racists embrace it because it's just an easy way to get rid of another black man. The paranoid embrace it because it's a conspiracy theory. And the sheeple embrace it because a certain news source tells them to. If Whoopi or anyone else points this out, that does not mean they're playing the "race card."
Uh...did you forget McCain was asked - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
to show his BC during the '08 campaign?

Not every opposition to Obama is made because he is of mixed race. This is always the excuse that some of you people throw out when you have nothing else to argue with.

I will agree that there are some people who dislike Obama merely because his skin is black. However, I can just as easily say that there are some people who voted for Obama merely because his skin is black. Isn't that racist as well?

Believe it or not...but there are actually some of us white folks who don't like Obama because we don't like bigger government. It has nothing to do with his skin color.

The reason Whoopi and many others consistently throw the race card out is because it is easier than actually debating the issue at hand. If you can't handle that...obviously I'm just a bigoted white hick from Indiana who hates all black people, right? Give me a break!
I am - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm black and find no offense at all. Some people have a problem with Obama being black. So what? He's half white also. So what?

I wouldn't care if he was purple and wore his underwear inside out. It's his policies I don't like - not the color of his skin! In this country, you ARE allowed to criticize the president - even if he is black - and when you do, it does NOT make you a racist. Get over it. Save the race card for when it's truly needed.
Evidently, you are not allowed to criticize this president without - Backwards Typist

someone calling you racist according to the other side.

I oppose his policies and opposed them when he was running for office, was called a racist, even worse, was called a bible-toting, gun-loving, redneck, etc. by a certain senator from my state.

Ridiculous! -and its Obama himself who makes this worse. - THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACE!!
[ In Reply To ..]
If he showed the information, this would all go away, yet he continues to refuse. Throwing around the racist issue is what you do when you have no real defense.
So you concur that people only want to see - Obama's birth certificate
[ In Reply To ..]
because he is black? Seriously? The birthers did not draw up the Constitution. They would just like to see it followed. No other President has had a problem providing his birth certificate when asked. Bush did. McCain did. They aren't black.

Trying to avoid the central issue by playing the race card is just that...to avoid the central issue. Whoopi only went there because she had nowhere else to go under the questioning. She didn't play it with Bill O'Reilly when he was asking the same questions...I guess because she doesn't like Bill O'Reilly but "loves" (her words) Donald Trump.
I stand by what I said - no1joe
[ In Reply To ..]
The answer to your question is no. Not all people only want to see Obama's birth certificate because he's black. And in response to other posts, I don't believe that disagreeing with Obama's policies equates being racist either. That's silly. However, do I think that there is a segment of the population who will put Obama under a microscope no matter what he does because he is African American and they have an issue with that? Absolutely. And finally, do I think that the birth certificate issue is a fan favorite among those racists who will put Obama under a microscope no matter what? Yes. I have overheard this topic being discussed, with my own ears, on more than one occasion, each time being filled with racial slurs and a form of bigotry that I cannot post on this board. You can also look at Huck's comments on the subject where at one point he blew off the birther movement as silly and stated that if there was anything out there to find, Hillary would have found it. I think that's a pretty valid point. Love her or not, can you really argue that Hillary is resourceful, clever, and can sniff a drop of blood from a mile away? If there was a discrepancy, wouldn't she have been all over it? Unless, that is, she was in on it and only pretended to want to run for president in order to help Obama cover up the fact that he's not a citizen (and probably Muslim) by claiming that she looked and there was nothing to find. Really? Anyhow, many folks felt that Huck's POV was a rational at that point. But then look at him go when he was sucking up to the birther crowd. Why? Because they vote, and the only way to get them to vote for him is to sing their tune, and that tune, in a nutshell, goes a little something like: Obama hates this country because he grew up in Africa.

I didn't even have a problem necessarily with people talking about the birth certificate thing even though I think it's silly. Rather I had an issue with the post above accusing someone of playing the race card without taking another person's POV into consideration. Sometimes when people perceive something as having racial overtones to it there is substance to that POV, and to casually cast that off (and LOL about it) as someone using the "race card" as some sort of crutch is narrow minded.

BTW, IDK if it would make anyone feel any better if I say that I feel the same way about Sarah Palin (and Hillary for that matter... maybe even Bachman). That microscope thing works overtime on them, too, and they've been overly picked apart because some people see SP as another skirt trying to do a man's job or Hill as a pushy loud-mouth broad, and both of them not capable of handling the job they've set their minds on. Silly girls. Now, is that to say that you can't disagree with either based on their policy? No. However, a lot of the publicity surrounding them isn't fair and might just have to do with the fact that they're female in a man's game.
The big hole I find in the if there was something - to find Hillary would have
[ In Reply To ..]
found it...perhaps she did and that is why she is secretary of state...if he can guess, so can I.

In all seriousness...in watching Democrats as I have been watching them...she would not have gone for the jugular like that on another Democrat. It just doesn't happen. They don't expose that kind of dirty laundry on each other. I know you know that. And fact be told, unless she did a watergate-type operation into the records vault in Hawaii to find out if there was one there or not...well, who would have come out looking worse? Then the Dems would have had to look to WHO to run if she discredited Obama by breaking into the Hawaii state archives?

Sorry...that just makes no sense. It would not have done her a bit of good to do that. Hillary is way too smart..not about to go there...especially not with potential skeletons in the "first dude's" (which he would have been had she won) closet, and in her own...nope...if she pulled that glove off she would have been TOAST.

Come on, joe...I KNOW you're a smart cookie and my guess is you don't buy that either, but just have a tough time not toeing the party line. :)
I disagree with you. I am curious as to why he refused - Backwards Typist

to show his original BC and spent lots of money hiding all his information. I'm not a birther and I don't go around joining the many birther's who are doing this, but you have to admit, there is something fishy about it.

This whole thing would have been settled if he would have done what was requested back then and then this whole crap would have been nipped in the bud.

As to being President being harddd...Bush was honest. It is harddd. Obama knows it is harddd. Ask him. He'll tell you. And having Joe Biden as VP makes it hharrrddderrr. And having people like you as his spokesperson to the people sure isn't making it any easier either.

But please...do carry on. :)

Republican, independent, tea party, libertarian or YOU NAME IT, the Constitution says he has to be a natural born citizen and all the heck people are asking for is the legal long form birth certificate. If he has it, why not show it? It makes absolutely no sense that he would not, and would spend his own money defending lawsuits trying to compel him to, if he has nothing to hide. I would want any President, from ANY party, in the same situation to just show the darned thing!

Everyone keeps skirting the central issue which is WHY won't he show it if he has it? If he is really the President for all the people like he said he was going to be, and some of the people want to see it, then why not produce it??
I was somewhat joking, because that attitude is real among Republicans - No Democrat is ever acceptable no matter what
[ In Reply To ..]
It's not a matter of race. Its a matter of which party it is. It's okay if a Republican does it. It is not okay if a Democrat does it, no matter what 'it' is.

come join us in 2011. Bush did not lie...he believed the intelligence, and the guy in charge of the CIA at that time was actually left over from the Clinton Admin (bet Bush in retrospect wishes he had gotten rid of that guy). Several other countries believed the intelligence too, that is why they went in with us. Many of the same ones we are in Libya with right now. And Congress believed it too...you aren't telling me, surely, that Bush (who is of limited intelligence according to the left) was able to fool all those Democrats in Congress (who are uberintelligent according to the left) into believing that intelligence?

She's wrong. The race card is not valid here. I think that's a mistake by the African American community to call the race card every time Obama is being scrutinized. It reminds me of Henny Penny and the "sky is falling." After awhile, people begin to question the motives of the people throwing down the race card.

The fact of the matter is that the long form (which the "birthers" want to see) is a copy of the actual birth certificate, a short form is a document that certifies the existence of such certificate. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me, since all he has to do is release the long form. He could do an "in your face" move and that would make all the birthers have to find another conspiracy to obsess about, like 9/11 was an inside job or something like that.

Well said and clear... thank you! nm - Frank

Wouldn't change a thing - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
If Obama did release the long form of his birth certificate, it would not change a thing. The birthers would find some problem with that, like it was a fake document. I do think there is racism involved in this birther thing. I was born around the time President Eisenhower was elected, and I do not remember this ever being such a big issue for any other president. Would two Hawaiian newspapers really publish a birth announcement saying that Obama was born in Hawaii if he was not born in Hawaii?
Nice cynical attitude you have. It would change - EVERYTHING if he came out with it.
[ In Reply To ..]
Look, if the USA was just a racist country, why did Obama get elected in the first place? That is garbage, and you know it.
The Birther movement has to be one of the most ridiculous ever in our nation - It is shameful
[ In Reply To ..]
No matter what he did or did not do, the Birther movement would not accept it. Nothing he could do, show, or say would change what they believe, because it is based on hatred of him and of the Democratic Party.
Nice attempt at diversion....but if he provided - it and they persisted...
[ In Reply To ..]
they would THEN look like you paint them to be. Instead he spends his own money to defend the many lawsuits that were filed...and he is doing that because "it would not do him any good" to provide it? Come ON.

No one here hates the man. I certainly don't hate him. The color of his skin means nothing to me. I am not thrilled with the way he is running the country...would not like it any better if he was white and Republican.

That is what you don't seem to get. Those of us who are not Republicans, who are independents, don't hate either party, but yes, it is concerning that spending your own money to defend lawsuits instead of just showing the long form birth certificate like others before him and to appease some of the people he is supposed to be President of....yes, that is concerning. It makes me wonder what he is trying to hide.

The same way it would make YOU wonder what he was trying to hide if he was a white Republican.

oh please, lets not even get into 911 - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
Okay, I was right up there with you on the whole issue of the BC, which is about the first time I've agreed with you. 911 is a whole other issue. What gets me is this. People wanting to see the BC is a real issue. Who is responsible for 911 is another real issues. Both of these issues have never been proven. I'm not saying 911 was an inside job because I don't know. However, I have read lots of testimony from experts (engineers, scientists, etc who have studied this their whole lives and have degrees) and there is just something lets say "odd" about it all.

All I know is both issues are valid legitimate issues that should be discussed and people who want to discuss them should not be ridiculed.
It wasn't an issue with other Presidents - because they provided it.
[ In Reply To ..]
it was an issue briefly with McCain because he was born in the Panama Canal zone, however, he was born on a US military installation which is US soil no matter where it sits. He has an original birth certificate with the signatures, etc. Obama has not presented that one, for whatever reason he refuses to. So, the question remains....why not?
No, Whoopi was wrong - Let me explain
[ In Reply To ..]
1. She is trying to turn the "law" into something racial...It is not. The law has no color. If you steal it's against the law whether you are black or white. If you murder someone its against the law whether you are black and white. The law states you must be born in the US whether you are black or white. Sorry, ya don't get a free pass just cos you are a person of color (and yes before you call me a racist, I am not white.

2. Whoopi said he (Obama) is the only man ever asked to show his birth certificate (because he's black). She is wrong. McCain, Bush (Sr. & Jr), Regan, Clinton, and every other president had to show their BC.

3. If it was a white man (say McCain for instance) this topic would be going on forever until he showed the blasted thing.

A birth announcement in the paper does not qualify as proof. When my daughter was born in Germany, my mother put a birth announcement in the local newspaper.

He has not shown the BC that is required for ALL men running for President.

What more do I want? I (and others too, like Donald Trump and many other intelligent people who know the law), want the BC to be shown that he has not provided. The same proof McCain, Bush, Clinton, etc had to show. That's it, pretty basic stuff here.

Factcheck. I've posted this before and so have others. Do you even know who they are? Who funds them? Have you read about the connection between The Annenberg Foundation, Obama & FactCheck. To say that because they say it's real it is is like saying Well Michelle Obama said its true, so just trust me on that.

There is more to this than looking at a bunch of phony bad photoshop doctored documents and saying "see, here's the proof. Just ignore Obama's sisters name that we couldn't quite fully erase from the document".

The document the other site put up has also been found to be a fraud.

Until the actual one comes out nobody will know for sure.

Factcheck.org and Politifact.org? That's ridiculous.

Well, here's a simple fact: Obama has not released his original long-form birth certificate. He has spent a ton of money to NOT release it. Prove me wrong.

Some people follow blindly -- that's dangerous.

Of course, I don't know if you follow blindly, since I don't know you personally. Please don't view that statement as a personal attack because it was not meant in that way. I'm just amazed that, in the era of the Internet and information overload, that many people are not able to sort through and do their own research. Why do they tow the party line with no questions asked? That, to me, is a very scary prospect. We are not in Cuba or Iran and don't have to take what our leaders tell us as gospel. Have we become so lazy that we don't want to question and do research? Or have we become a nation of drones?

When all else fails play the race card. Which is - what Whoopie did.

So, I run into this guy this morning who I haven't seen in about nine years. We're talking and then he says - You're bigger than the last time I saw you. Then, he goes on to say - You know how when people get older, they fill out. Okay, so now I'm not only bigger, but old too. That's just great. Just needed to vent. ...

Great Book!Sep 13, 2012
I'm reading Becoming Dr. Q by Alfredo  Quinones-Hinojosa.  He tells of his journey from migrant farm worker from Mexico to becoming a professor of neurosurgery and oncology at Johns Hopkins.  His continued optimism in the face of many hurdles is really inspiring.  ...

Today Is Going To Be A Great DayOct 08, 2012
I'm just about over being sick.  I don't have to work today.  The whole day stretches before me in pure luxurious possibility.  Yes, I have to do more "job hunting," no the job hunt really isn't going that well.  But today, I'm gonna set that aside. I'm reading Longfellow (poet), I really like it, it's easy to read - poetry that's easy to read, what a concept!  I'm also working on a poem and my novel. It's like 24 hours' ...

Today's Another Great DayOct 11, 2012
Got the car fixed - several things wrong with it - so hopefully fingers crossed it will make it through the winter.  The whole winter.  And there's another car here, so if worse came to worst, I could take that. Moral of the story - a big stress is when "worse comes to worst" is on the horizon, and you have to live with that possibility day in and day out.  So one aspect of that is gone. Bought a nice velveteen-ish jacket at Salvation Army - eight dollars - it is pitiful wh ...

A Great RecipeJan 01, 2013
A woman I met some weeks ago gave me a recipe for crustless pumpkin pie.  I went on line and found one which varied somewhat from hers.  (She uses egg beaters and Splenda in her recipe because her husband is diabetic, etc.)   The recipe I used was perfect!   If anyone would like to try it (maybe for next season) I will gladly share it.  It is great not having to worry about making a perfect crust, which is not my strong point.   I never heard of a cru ...

Great New Blog. Mar 16, 2013
It's been posted once before, so hopefully I'm not overreaching my bounds by doing it again so that any of Fanatical Hypocrite's fans who may have missed it can make their way there.  There are actual posts up now, so I think it's worth mentioning again. And comments are enabled too.   ...

These Two Ladies Are GreatJul 29, 2016
Some good common sense and an irate reaction to Trump here, so probably this might be only for those of us who do not like Donald Trump - definitely a liberal cast to this blog, but what the heck I have to skim through those diatribes from the Heritage Foundation and that awful Judge Jeanine, so about time to spread a bit of progressive wealth of knowledge. I have not put the entire post - bear in mind the beginning is very good and will make you laugh out loud, so please read if you are so inc ...

America Is Great BecauseAug 03, 2016
If you watch this video of a Muslim-American (comedian) saying goodbye to America at the RNC (because of Trump's purported measures to ban Muslims and make a Muslim registry) you will see that the people he meets there are so nice and loving. I am just amazed that they go for Trump, who is certainly not a good person at all. I just think this video represents the repeated claim that there are not as many differences in people as there are similarities, that Americans on the whole ARE good ...

Great QuoteApr 02, 2017
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” â€• H.L. Mencken ...

The Great Man Trump.May 21, 2016
Interesting account of the wannabe Commander in Chief: Cannot conceive of how ANY U.S. veteran with a mind would consider voting for this charlatan and scam artist. He says how dearly he "loves the veteran," but in the 1960s, he and Daddy went to GREAT lengths to ensure he'd never become one. Dodged the draft. Went from 1-A to 1-Y allegedly because birthmarks on his heels precluded his serving. DID NOT prevent him from active athletics in college, however. We vets are bring exploited. Now, ...
