GOP has a Saul Alinsky problem of it own

Posted: Jan 29, 2012

First we have Papa Romney palling around with Saul Alinsky in the 1960s.

"In the wake of the devastating Detroit riots of the summer of 1967, Michigan Gov. George Romney — a liberal Republican — met the radical organizer Saul Alinsky to discuss the grievances of the urban black poor. Now Romney's son is fighting for the Republican nomination, and his main rival, Newt Gingrich, has made Barack Obama's alleged ties to Alinsky a centerpiece of his campaign."

"I think you ought to listen to Alinsky," Romney told his white allies, according to T. George Harris's 1968 book, "Romney's Way."

"It seems to me that we are always talking to the same people. Maybe the time has come to hear new voices," he said.

This link has some really nice black and white gloosy photos of a meeting between Romney Sr and the big, bad boogeyman, ressurected from the Library of Congress archives.  Ann Coulter is going to explode in living color during her next Focks News appearance, once she gets wind of this.  Poor Ann.  Nowhere to run, now that the GOPs only "electable" candidate has been branded a socialist for life.

Next we have this gem.  The Alinsky cancer has spread to the Newtron camp.  This is a fairly impressive analysis detailing how Gingrich has applied textbook Alinsky tactics in his campaign strategies.  Love that title:  Newt Gingrich is a Saul Alinsky Republican.  The Washington Examiner is billionaire Phillip Anschultz's tabloid conservative version of the Washington Post.

Sarah Palin to the rescue.  In defense of Newt (who signaled recently that he may have a choice cabinet position waiting for Mama Grizzley while serving his second term...giving her plenty of time to bone up on world affairs), she laced into the party establishment in a long Facebook ramble, dissecting GOP cannibalism and accusing them of "using Alinsky tactics" to sabotage the Newtster.  She didn't waste the opportunity to play victim and whine about how these same tactics were employed by the left in 2008 and how they were responsible for bringing the GOP down in defeat.  I wonder.  Does that mean the entire party establishment has been infiltrated by lefties, and she and Gingrich are the only ones who can save them from themselves?

The GOP can of worms (the gift that keeps on giving) has come home to roost.

oh that's reassuring - and confirms why I don't trust him - what if

So who do you vote for - rotten to the core #1 or rotten to the core #2. They all seem rotten to me. As much as I don't support any democrats right now, the thought of Romney in is just really depressing. But the thought of going though the same thing again is depressing too. So what do you do when there is nobody good, nobody you really have faith in or can trust. Why are we not getting any decent people in any party to run for office. Have they all been corrupted this bad. Has the corruption gotten so bad there is no hope ever again.

I hate to not vote, but I hate worse to vote for someone I don't trust will do a good job. Just don't know anymore.

Reassuring - To what if

What is actually funny, as long as Saul Alinksy was only on the Dems/libs side, never heard a peep. Now that the libs think they got the "goods", they are beside themselves that Repubs entertained Saul baby, as well.. Just hypocrisy on their or afraid the libs will have Alinskytes fighting them back with the libs own weapons? I vote both. Pretty interesting. Never any outrage over Saul baby by the libs before...LOL

Where is your outrage? - OK for regressives, I guess.

[ In Reply To ..]
OK for regressives I guess - Libs get called out- don't like it much
[ In Reply To ..]
Poster said nothing about LIKING or supporting Alinsky, just the sheer hypocristy of the libs going after the repubs. You really need to pay better attentio to the posts.
Why are you trying to make this about libs? - sm

Evidently, you did not read one word from the links provided in the original post. The libs are not "going after" the GOP. They are standing idly by while the the primary cannibals pick each others bones.

Guess you really need to pay better attention to the posts. Start by reading the articles to see who is going after who. Here's your first clue. All of this media scrutiny ensued soon after Newt brought Alinsky into the debate dialog. The original post clearly pointed out that the source of the analysis of how Newt has adopted Alinsky's strategies is the Washington Examiner, a conservative version of WaPo, owned by a GOP billionaire. The source of the last link is Her Magesty Mama Grizzley.

To be clear, the libs would be the LAST people on earth to ever link Alinsky to Romney or Newt. They did that all by themselves.

You never heard a peep out of the dems/libs because - they are not the ones who

have a problem with Saul Alinsky. Therefore, there was never any reason to "do" anything about him. Hence, no "peeps" were forthcoming.

It's the wingnuts who have been selling that guilt-by-association snake oil for the past 5 years, ever since Obama announced his candidacy back in in Feb 2007. They're the ones who would have us all believe that whoever stood in the same room with him, lived in the same neighborhood, attended the same meetings or community events, read any of his books, studied his teachings in school, wrote about him, or so much as uttered his name was automatically branded a for life, then shunned for being a filthy subversive socialist who was poised to take over the country and destroy life as we know it.

This is not about dems/libs thinking they have "the goods" on the GOP wingnut factions for the simple act of bringing the subject up in broad daylight. This is about how the GOP is going to spin their way out of these latest developments. The hypocrisy is all theirs and the ball's in their court, right where it belongs. Another aspect of this worthy of mention is that if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then the GOP has unwittingly paid this brilliant community organizer and political strategist (and their evil, most despised, arch-enemy) the highest compliment imaginable.

Ironically, the GOP has no one else but Newt to thank for all the media play this is getting (which is bound to stick around for a while). He over-played his hand by unleashing the Saul Alinsky spew one too many times.

I plan to thoroughly enjoy watching this story as it develops. Karma is a beautiful thing to behold.

Again, all the reason to vote for Rick Santorum. He is not corrupt. He may not be easy to look at and he may have a bit of a temper, but its the fire and passion we need to turn this country around before we become Europe, Socialist Europe. that means the government dictates everything starting with health care. Remember the famous words of Joe Wilson as he shouted at the president "You lie!!" its true.

Saul Alinsky - Guess you gotta fight fire with fire

why after 5 years, the hate crusade has never been able to get any real traction out of their Alinsky lunacy beyond the fringe factions? The same is true for the birther movement. Despite their best efforts, why do you suppose nothing ever seems to stick? That's how karma works. The more negative energy they put out, the more it lands right back in their laps.

dear person, the whole point (it whized up and over that sloped head like an olympic skiier) is that book is merely a guide to organizing effectively. Harmless to all. (not devil-related in the least). They could hand it out in the neonatal nursery and no harm would come. The danger-danger exists only in the republican mind. Its a book. Farenheit 451 BABY!

Here's a challenge:  Do you think we can discuss this without name-calling?  My last post was hijacked by disgusting personal smears of all kinds (probably by only a couple of people) and unfortunately, it never got around to actually discussing the article.  We're better than that.  Let's give Cher some time off from moderating our posts.  Are you game?  Why do you think Pam Dickler won't release the tape?  http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Go ...

Inept, Corrupt Alinsky Education System Under ThreatNov 12, 2016
Teachers, parents encouraging children to miss class and "protest" the recent election. "There will be no repercussions" - Oh yes there will be repercussions, but we won't see them for awhile. These are school kids, most of whom can't spell "protest" and who couldn't begin to tell you what they're protesting about except to regurgitate the garbage they're being spoon-fed (and they can barely manage to do that without stumbling over the words). However, the rest of this post is accurate (according to the Wall St. Journal) Tea Partier, Dick Armey, distributes Alinksy's "Rules for Radicals" to Tea Party Leaders. Adam Brandon, a Tea Party protest organizer, also distributes the book to Tea Party leaders, and even created a shorter guide to distribute to the entire ...

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man ...
