Emory University to pay 100% of financial need of students in

Posted: May 5, 2017

But international students pay full price and must certify they have sufficient funds to cover tuition A program to be rolled out at Emory University this fall pledges to pay “100% of demonstrated financial need for undergraduate Undocumented Students (with or without DACA) who are admitted as first-year, first-degree-seeking students,” campus officials state online. More than 200 faculty members recently signed a petition to university President Claire Sterk demanding Emory be declared a sanctuary campus, according to the Emory Wheel.;

One of two things will happen. First, the university will run out of - money as the illegals realize they can

[ In Reply To ..]
they can go for free. Or, they will not honor this very long. There ARE laws of economics, you know.

So the $50K per year will go up. All the privileged will be "happy" to pay more. Like health care.

People learn how to game the system...

A Mexican, Canadian or Brit who follows the law - and goes to Emory legally would pay

[ In Reply To ..]
$70k a year, while their brother, sister, or neighbor who came illegally could attend for free. No doubt liberals see nothing wrong with this picture.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Nothing surprises me anymore.

What's really infuriating is now we be competing even - more for jobs here (like what happened to MT

[ In Reply To ..]
over the years) in addition to visas and the rest.
Yeah... now it's gonna be nearly impossible to - get that lettuce-picking job in Salinas...
[ In Reply To ..]
*[sarcasm]*
You think Emory graduates are going to be lettuce-picking - or up for high end jobs?
[ In Reply To ..]
in competition with those who actually paid for their college education.
Lol..sarcasm lost on them - And MT was outsourced to 3rd world
[ In Reply To ..]
Not similar at all. These people have lived here, will live here and pay taxes if they are allowed to work here. Most would eventually become citizens
Illegal getting perks over legal citizens. Way to go - America. What's next, free health care?

Oh wait...
Too late to turn back the free stuff clock. - nomsg

Will develop in private sector. Isn't that what you Christians recommended? All of the poor folk situations were to be solved by private charity and churches.

As I suspected...you wanted the final say on who was WORTHY.
Without a genuine full dimensioned God at the root - of our philosophy of compassion and not

politics, we at best can expect something spotty and self contradictory. And God will not enter in love except to a heart He knows will invite Him.

Liberals use compassion for political reasons.

What do you propose a person who was brought here as a kid, went through U.S. high school and now wishes to go to college do? Are they supposed to return to country of origin to languish in poverty? They are not able to receive work-study here, they are probably not able to obtain Federal guaranteed student loans, as they are not citizens. They do not receive federal grants, because they are not citizens.

So, they need to be independently wealthy??? to go to college.

Emory is stepping up to offer assistance to those eligible for admission to their prestigious school. I commend them.

What a Christian thing to do!

Christian thing to do? The left uses religion when it suits their - end. I never hear them mention

God when it comes to abortion.

Because God created all things - Including abortion

[ In Reply To ..]
I just included christian in above post cuz it was catchy, as in catch-22...how can christians treat fellow humans that way? Really, how?
The real question is, why bother to come here LEGALLY - when you get perks for being illegal.
[ In Reply To ..]
They are perfectly welcome here LEGALLY.
The left can say and do things and get away with it because there - are no political consequences.
[ In Reply To ..]
They are going off the deep end. Just look at Maxine Waters.
This is Satan, not God. Satan is the king of this world. - Just look around.

I know Trump recently marked the National Day of Prayer and rescinded the Johnson Amendment that bans religious groups from directly endorsing or opposing politicians.

Look at Jeremiah Wright and Obama's church and churches like that. They've been political for years.
How convenient. When the fairy tale fails - Bring in the black hat guy

This belief thang is why we cannot have nice things. It is a tool to keep everyone in their place of fear. Story developed and massaged for political control and still working 1000s of years later. It's a doozy!

christian thing to do was actually - just to remind of morality

You took christian to mean god and satan were involved.

I prefer this definition...no fairytale involved...
: treating other people in a kind or generous way
Not when it involved other people's money. Anybody can - do that and take the high road.

By the way, where do you think morality comes from? God and the Ten Commandments.

This is one of their posts:

#Emory has joined 30 other universities in filing a new amicus brief opposing President Trump's executive order on restricting immigration.

They look to be a fair-minded, educated, open set of people. Hard for some to accept, I am sure.

The thought of someone paying nothing in tuition by - virtue of being an illegal is insulting.

[ In Reply To ..]
Why bother obeying laws if illegals get free this and that?

Americans get penalized for doing the right thing, while illegals get freebies.

TV ads should say this person came here illegally and gets 100% healthcare free, welfare, food, Section 8 housing, a cell phone and plan, and free tuition in college. (blur out the face and take out some letters from their name) You pay full price for your family and yourself because you play by the rules. And your taxes go to pay for these people. The Boston Marathon bombers and their families were paid over $100,000 in the years before their bombing. Democrats support and defend this system—what are you going to do about it?

Most of the illegals that will be funded by Emory will likely be Mexican.

What's next? Grade averaging? Why not? That’s only fair too, right? - Why should a student enjoy a 3.8 or

Not that the law matters anymore (as this proves), but providing in state tuition to illegals is against federal law.

has gone to an excellent private school for the last 4 years. She has a 3.9 grade average in a high school that is tough to get A’s. She got a few B’s (her first in 12 years) in some very tough courses with a tough curve.

She was basically getting turned down by any California University she had applied to.

The fact that she worked her butt off in high school doesn't matter anymore or the property taxes that were paid.

So our tax $’s will probably pay for some illegal.

PC culture loves entitlement money.

Emory gets about 69 million in Georgia Hope Scholarships and 96 from Georgia University Program, and that's just 2 programs they get.

Oh yeah, Trump's going to stop all this crap. Sure thing. - anon

It's more of the same garbage. Legal American citizens are chattel to be used and abused and Republicans are just continuing the tradition. Trump isn't going to do anything that benefits anyone except himself and his family. I am done with BOTH political parties as there is NOTHING but corruption and it runs deep in the swamp. I've voiced opposition to groups such as Antifa but maybe they're on to something because I see nothing but desolation in our American future.

Democrats new voting base, illegals. That's why they are - for it. It's pure politics.

nothing more.

There might be a backlash if more people knew about this. For - instance, in Indiana a private college

[ In Reply To ..]
is facing backlash after offering a "Trumpism & U.S. Democracy" course that described the president in class materials as a purveyor of "sexism, white supremacy, xenophobia, nationalism, nativism and imperialism."

Now officials at Butler University in Indianapolis are doing damage control after conservative news outlets picked up on the description of the fall class, which also indicated students would discuss and "potentially engage" in "strategies for resistance" to President Donald Trump.

Can you imagine if the college had done a course on Obama's communist mentor and his ties to Marxism?

It’s far past time to get extremely serious about this sick and twisted leftist bias running through most colleges today.
