Did anyone watch the History Channel the last 2 days?

Third Reich:The Rise and Third Reich: The Fall.  I found it very interesting, although the filming was pretty awful with all that flashing. The films were made by the German people. The Rise was the history and reasons of how Hitler came into power. It almost parallels the conditions in the U.S. today.

The Fall showed some known facts about Hitler and his armies, but it also showed how tough the German civilians had it during and after the war. I knew that Hitler got so desperate during the end that he forced children and those up to 60 years old to fight, but I didn't know that the children's ages were as low as 13!  I also didn't know that the German civilians practically starved to death, that they had trouble finding food for 3 years after the war. I had seen some films years ago of the German people trying to dig out of a bombed Berlin, but did not know that they didn't receive any help from any country, including ours, and that it took them until 1980 to rebuild their country. I also didn't know that the civilians were forced to walk through the Dauchau (sp) concentration camp while the dead were still there! What a horrible experience for them, and yet, they had let it happen, which was the reason they were forced to walk through there in the first place.

All in all, the series was an eye-opening experience. If you can stand to see death/dead bodies, and the rest of it, I would urge everyone to watch this program when it comes on again.

I did not watch it, though have seen things regarding the Reich. It is sickening to watch, but you certainly are right that it is an eye-opener.

..and it just goes to show you what can happen... - if you go to sleep at the wheel

and put too much power at the top (federal) vs state and trust those people at the top to make all your decisions for you. Like I said below...I don't think the rank and file German people EVER thought their government would engage in genocide...but it did.

I did watch it, too. It never ceases to appall me how so many people could be so cruel and so blinded to humanity. How can people so idolize this evil? And I do agree, much of it parallels conditions in the US today.
I visited Dachau a few years back. The experience is horrifying and overwhelming. I wish everyone would watch and be reminded of what can happen when people take for granted that such things could never, would never, happen. I actually have an acquaintance who was on one of those forced marches, the "death marches." She does not, cannot, talk about it. She is part of a group that I travel with, but when we travel she is unable to walk to a lot of the sites because of the physical damage that was done to her body as well as the psychological damage.

I've been to Dachau too - it really is an eye opener - And I have seen this series on HC (sm)

It was such an emotional experience. What was even more emotional was my grandfather who served in WWII and was one of the first soldiers to be at Dachau after the war ended and to see the prisoners. He said the sergeant in charge made all his patrol drink before they went there. He said it was like he could still see the prisoners like it was yesterday.

I think America should watch all the Third Reich films. What is that saying...history has a way of repeating itself. It's very chilling the contrast of history and what is going on in today's world.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people - Backwards Typist

don't believe the killings never happened. We should take those people and force them to watch the films, especially the one where the townspeople had to go through the camps. Maybe they would change their minds.

Oh, wait! Those weren't real human beings, they were planted wax figurines/manequins placed there. Yeah, right.

I have no doubt that the holocaust happened. Many of my friends' parents had concentration camp numbers tattooed on their arms. I take great offense to the disgusting attempts to compare what happened in Nazi Germany to what is happening in the United States today. Shame on those of you who make those comparisons in an effort to spread fear and further your sickening agenda.

New Channel Going To The DogsJul 15, 2013
Plenty of things will grab a dog’s attention: squirrels, tennis balls, funny smells, other dogs. But a TV channel?Absolutely, say the makers of DogTV, the first cable network to deliver 24-hour programming for dogs. The idea, they say, is that flipping on the channel while you go out for the day will keep your pet stimulated, entertained and relaxed. Call it “Sesame Street” for those who will never learn their ABCs.The shows on DogTV are actually three- to six-minute segments f ...

Changing The Channel On Congress.May 12, 2017
watching the Senate intelligence committee hearings Thursday morning, I got so frustrated I started looking for a good cartoon show. What's so aggravating about these staged Congressional hearings is that you know what the Republicans and the Democrats are going to say before you even turn on the TV. If it's healthcare reform, the right side says it's going to replace Obamacare with something that works - but then they can't sell their conservative ideas to the public a ...
