my question is - Effie

My question would be why would a rich senator's son need substandard health insurance??? Him and daddy don't get along so daddy doesn't pay for a decent policy or what? how old is this "kid".

Most of the policies being cancelled are not "substandard". (sm) - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Can you imagine if half the insurance policy holders were men (THEY PROBABLY ARE) and their insurance company has to add maternity coverage? Gee, does that make it substandard when they refuse to do it and cancel? This is just another lie to add to the many from this sorry excuse for a president.

No need to imagine. Males in group policies have always - paid for maternity coverage

[ In Reply To ..]
the employer offers to their female policy holder counterparts. I think it's more than fair since it takes two to tango when it comes to reproduction.
Right. Policies cover population groups, so all the medical issues - a group can have are covered EXCEPT
[ In Reply To ..]
when an insurance company decides to sell a policy for less to a company that wants to pay less by excluding certain coverages. Strange that they've tended to exclude more coverages for females and newborns than men, unless you consider that most people making these decisions are men.

The argument that a 60-year-old woman shouldn't have to pay for maternity care applies equally to all care for male-only ailments. Who's been suggesting THAT's unfair? Answer: No one.
Yep. Women pay for Viagra RXs, penile implants - and vasectomies.
[ In Reply To ..]
in their group policy premiums, which sometimes seem to take priority over childbirth, birth control, tubal ligations and other female procedures they deem "elective," along with pediatric preventative and wellness measures such as immunizations, well baby checks, etc. Where's the ruckus over that?

Source? - for "most" of the policies

[ In Reply To ..]
being cancelled are not substandard?

Just wondering if you could clarify where you got this information from?

poor baby, indeed - sm

A brief google search for the wild-goose story you appear to be referring to yields only the usual low-utility, low-information song and dance, none of which provides any details about the son's insurance. I guess one of us is missing something. Links are appreciated when referring to particular stories, especially when they incite such glee.

It's funny to see the ruling class react to laws - that the rest of us have SM

to live by. Oh the inhumanity, having to play by the same rules. Let's see how they spin this.

we don't know how the senator reacted - it's a post, nothing more

No Tax Increases, Huh? This Is Just For Indiana.May 13, 2010
In a new study, actuaries have concluded that ObamaCare could cost Indiana taxpayers an additional $3.5 billion.  The bulk of the additional costs will come from Medicaid expansion.  ObamaCare expands Medicaid eligibility to 138 percent of federal poverty level. Since the mid-‘90s, Tennessee has had an expanded Medicaid program, called TennCare.  Gov. Bredesen (D-TN) has called TennCare the “clear and present danger to the state’s financial stability.”  ...

Looks Like Trump Is Going To Win IndianaMay 03, 2016
Wish Bernie could have the same victory!   The pundits say that if the race comes donw to Hillary versus Trump, Bernie's supporters will switch to Trump.    Makes sense to me. What do you think:  Will Bernie supporters be loyal to Democratic party or switch for change from politics as usualTrump offers?  Or will they stay at home?   ...

Indiana's 4th Amendment Rights Taken AwayMay 17, 2011
Check out this link.  Apparently, it is now okay in Indiana for police officers to illegally enter someone's residence and the homeowner is not allowed to resist.  Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana is thinking about running for President.  It will be interesting to see if this comes up in debates if he does run.  Indiana is a very conservative state.  Who's next? http://www.examiner.com/finance-examiner-in-national/new-court-ruling-on-illegal-entry-could-have-last ...

Legionairre's Disease In Indiana HospitalApr 04, 2016
This is the hospital I worked in for years. I also was a patient over the years. Sometimes our little hospital has to send people there if they cannot provide the right services (ours a little hospital). Latest on this is that the person got Legionnaire's from the hospital. They were not at all sure of how he acquired it. On the local news, they said no one would say the condition of the man, but that he had been extremely sick. Said the tests won't come back for at least 10 days, ...

Trump Is Going To Beat Cruz In Indiana According To PollsMay 01, 2016
Looks like Cruz/Kasich plan backfired and that very plot may have caused voters to shift to Trump.  Then after he lost 5 states to Trump he went on to name a running mate, Carly Fiorina in a last ditch effort to gain women voters.  How stupid did Cruz think voters are?    Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admits he’s putting all his eggs into Indiana, but a new poll suggests a win Tuesday in the Hoosier State’s Republican presidential primary against front-runner Donald Tr ...

Indiana State Police Raid Voter Reg Group HQOct 05, 2016

Why Religious Freedom Laws Like Indiana's Are A Bad Idea For Left AND Right, Christian Or NotApr 01, 2015
Let me first say, again, I strongly believe in protecting civil liberties, but not promoting them. This means regardless of whether I agree or disagree morally, I do NOT agree with extremists, right or left, hellbent on forcing opinion into law. Recently, this has been done by both sides, either by enacting deceptive state law that "pretends" it doesn't discriminate, or by filing deceptive lawsuits that "pretend" they're with whomever refused them, rather than finding the perfect sit ...

Baby Horse And MomJul 19, 2010
Just wanted you all to know that the baby miniature horse was even more precious in person!  She just stuck to her mom and they walked side by side in the pasture.  One of the girls who lives on the farm picked her up and brought her to the fence so we could pet her.  Baby's mom was eating hay under a shade tree with her back turned. Suddenly she realized that her baby was not beside her.  She made some very loud cries and galloped over to the fence to protect her litt ...

Baby MiceJun 11, 2010

So Not Having Nursed A Baby I Have Got ToOct 07, 2015
Just saw where a lady was upset because she wanted to nurse her baby at an airport, wanted some privacy and was told she could get that in the bathroom. She did not want to do that, said germs and then the airline person suggested the pet room where apparently the animals go to use the bathroom, I think. Having never nursed but thought a woman, if traveling, could nurse ahead and store the milk somehow. Women with babies have traveled for years. Why now do others think they are so entitled to ha ...

Need To Lose Baby WeightFeb 28, 2012
I had a baby 2 years ago and I have not worked out a day since then (bad I know).  Now, with summer coming up, I need to tone up and get in shape.  Anyone have a good workout they can share to lose the baby weight.  I've got about 10 pounds to lose, which isn't bad, but I'm so out of shape and kind of puffy, no muscle!  I really don't want to join a gym as I have a treadmill and some weights but really have no idea what kind of workout to do. ...
