Coroner unceremoniously puts wingnut conspiracy theory

Posted: Apr 21, 2012

No foul play.  No murder.  No coverup.  No conspiracy.  No assassination.  Andrew Breitbart died of heart failure from coronary artery disease just as the family concluded the day he passed.  Negligible alcohol, no illicit drugs, no poisons, nothing amiss, other than a premature call from the Lord to come home.

I liked the body of your post, not your header - Please see my message

I really did like the body of your post. It was very respectful and was just a fact based post. Your header however is a different story and I'll tell you why.

I almost did not open it because it sounded like a hateful post towards conservatives, who basically only want to know the truth to what happened to Mr. Breitbart.

Here's the thing. Someone makes an announcement he's going to reveal some things about a certain politician. Then within an hour or two he is dead. Maybe that's okay for some people because they did not want the information to be revealed, but seriously what would you think? Say for instance Chris Mathews or Kieth Olberman was at a pub and said he found some damning evidence and has videos of President Bush that is going to sink him (or something like that), then he is walking home after saying that and boom, within an hour he's found dead in the street. Seriously what would you think? You'd certainly think foul play. A healthy Chris Mathews (or Olberman) just announces he's going to reveal a video of President Bush the next day and within an hour or two dead. I think it would make anyone wonder.

There was no need to call a large group of people wingnut conspiracy theorists, because if it happened to anyone in any party people would want to know what happened. Saying something like what you did shows a lack of compassion for people who don't agree with you.

After all this was a man, a human being. People may have not liked that he was exposing wrong doings going on, but he was a human being nonetheless. What he did matters no more. Above all else he left a wife and children. He is gone from their lives forever. If he was a janitor or plumber or any other profession he will be missed just the same. I think it's in bad taste for anyone to call other people conspiracy theorist in a case that clearly needed to be investigated, especially since the liberals have done the same thing when things like this have happened to democrats (JFK for example).

But thank you for your kind words in the body of the report, just wish it had been titled a little differently. Like coroner announces finding on Mr. Breitbart. That would have been more respectful.

What? All they want is to know the truth - about what happened?

Let's get this out of the way first.  That “damning evidence” turned out to be overblown hype.  An “expose” on Obama’s college activism in support of integrating more qualified black professors into Harvard’s faculty was presented as racially motivated class warfare that supposedly would “blow the lid off his presidency” and doom his chances for re-election.  Absurd.

If Keith Olbermann suddenly died after announcing a breaking news story on some juicy scandal, here’s what I’d do.  I would be shocked and saddened at his passing.  I would watch tributes and read articles about his career.  I would miss his show and his unique style of covering the news.  I would remember him fondly from time to time.  I would feel terrible for his family.  I would be curious about the cause of death, and wait for the autopsy results to be reported.

The following are excerpts from the blogosphere that appeared WITHIN MINUTES of Breitbart’s reported death which I am using to illustrate what I WOULDN’T think or do:

Radio host Erich "Mancow" Muller announced, “He told me RECENTLY he had big dirt on Obama... MANY believe it's murder!”  No, I wouldn’t immediately assume he had been murdered.  Seriously.

“Andrew Breitbart threatens Obama at CPAC with a video, then suddenly dies? This MUST be investigated as an assassination.  Obama WTF?”  No, I wouldn’t  think he had been assassinated and certainly wouldn't think that a sitting president was involved.  Seriously.

“Breitbart dead at 43? My suspect list includes George Soros and Obama”  No, I wouldn’t feel compelled to start a suspect list or single out a Donald Trump or the GOP frontrunner.   Seriously.

“Does anyone else think this was foul play? Did obama send his chicago goons to murder breitbart?”  No, I wouldn’t implicate Romney in some murder-for-hire scheme contract with his henchmen.  Seriously.

“Andrew Breitbart was going to expose Barry's colledge "issues" and now he's dead. The Bush/Clinton clan kills again.  No, I wouldn’t blame family members of former presidents from both sides of the aisle.  Seriously.

“The LEFT taking out our Conservative Generals now?????? Putin in Russia does this to opposition journalists....look it up”  No, I wouldn’t portray Olbermann as some Commander of partisan boots on the ground, nor would I blame the entire wing of a political party or invoke perceived dictators who censor the press.  Seriously.

“Re: Breitbart - might want to wait for corroboration of this death announcement before flipping out. Anonymous isn't very fond of him, so...”  No, it wouldn’t occur to me that something as grave and sobering as a death announcement would be a hoax.  Seriously.

“Call for a congressional hearing and investigation WHO KILLED BREITBART? Obama is a hit man with an army of parasites."  No, I wouldn’t call Romney or any other GOP leaders hitmen, insult their supporters or call for an investigation.  I’d wait for the autopsy report.  Seriously.

This is what a wingnut conspiracy theory looks like.  No offense intended, but it is what it is.

Sorry.  I have to take issue with something else you said:  “What he did matters no more.”  Tell that to Shirley Sherrod who lost her job and suffered devastating personal humiliation behind deliberate race baiting fueled by cooked videos and yellow journalism, with all allegations proven to be false and no apology forthfoming from the busted source.  Ask all those ACORN employees who lost their jobs.  Whoops.  You can’t.  ACORN is no more, after being destroyed by those same unethical tactics, despite being cleared of any wrongdoing by the Proskauer Rose, Congressional Research Service, NY and CA attorney generals and US Government Accountability investigations.  The worst offense they found was characterized as internal employment problems.

I find your comparison between investigating Breitbart’s death with the investigation into the televised assassination of President Kennedy (witnessed to their horror by an entire nation) too stunning to comment on.   “Bad taste” doesn’t begin to cover that subject.

I agree with you - that is

the way I would react to the situation also. The extreme right lives for these conspiracy theories. I do not believe they are actually concerned about policies, they are in it for the adrenaline rush. They liken daily life to a battlefield where something can come at them from any side at any time. its an interesting phenomenon, but tiring after a while. That Brietbart was relevant enough to concern the White House strikes me as silly.

You wrote: "They liken daily life to a battlefield where something can come at them from any side at any time."

The irony here is that not too many of them have actually served our country in any military position. And I'm talking about both Democratic and Republican parties here.

I don't recall anyone saying there was foul play - Trigger Happy

They said from day #1 that he died because of heart issues. Perhaps I missed the conspiracy posts or something?

Hey Trigger Happy, that's left trying - to blow smoke as usual

A Little Science On Conspiracy Theory BelieversMay 06, 2011
To sum up the article:  "We found that in their search for explanations under such uncertain and confusing conditions, people rely partly on projection -- the assumption that others would behave much as they would." *** Some of the truths I have learned in my life:  It seems like the ones who "squawk" the loudest are the ones who have the most guilt or are hiding something.  Also, the person who most emphatically tells me "I would never do that" is most likely the same pers ...

I've Been Wondering About The Conspiracy Theory Mindset.Feb 06, 2013
And found some interesting info from a fairly recent study about it. Belief in Conspiracies Linked to Machiavellian Mindset Know any conspiracy theorists? No doubt they’ve tried to convince you that man didn’t really land on the moon or President Obama was born in Kenya. In fact, they were imparting genuinely interesting information — about themselves. New research suggests belief in such theories may reveal a Machiavellian mindset. “At least ...

Buttery Cat TheoryDec 07, 2009
INTERESTING SCIENTIFIC THEORY:  "We all know that when a cat is dropped, it always lands on its feet; and when toast is dropped, it always lands with the buttered side facing down. Therefore, if buttered toast is strapped to the back of a cat, when dropped, the two will hover, spinning inches above the ground, probably into eternity. A "buttered-cat array" could replace pneumatic tires on cars and trucks, and "giant buttered-cat arrays" could easily allow a high-speed monorail linking New ...

This one is just for fun. The Nazis tested this hypothesis "by selecting women who were about to ovulate ...

It didn’t take long for the investigative investment to sprawl badly. Lichtblau has resigned from CNN in a growing scandal over a Fake News story about a Tr ...
