Big banks profits/bonuses down

Posted: Jan 18, 2012

As you know, there has been a "move your money" movement and the OWS occupation of Wall Street.  Big banks, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan have recently reported a big drop in profits.  The smaller regional banks are doing okay.  (Yes, there are some like Citibank where things are getting better, but they really had no other direction to go as they had already bottomed out).

I just want to congratulate the 99% for making a difference on Wall Street and in Wisconsin.  The "real" people are waking up.

I was flipping through the news last night and I heard about these Tea Party protesters at the White House.  The Secret Service actually had a portion of the WH in lockdown because some smoke bombs were thrown over the fence!!  I want to know when we are going to put a stop to these radical Tea Party thugs!  Oh wait, never mind.  It wasn't the Tea Party.

Tea Party? Umm, that was Occupy Wall Street. - Meerkat - sm

The "thugs that need to be stopped" are all the criminals and do-nothings in Congress, the Senate, and the White House, drawing huge paychecks and watching the rest of us starve.

Our so-called government needs to be completely torn down, and re-built again from the ground up.

I dont belief it. Too lethargic, constipated and pasty to do any harm. I salute both baggers and occupiers for their willingness to put their meat on the street to express their belief. Bless the USA for the freedom to.

even though dems like Pelosi are now backtracking in thier support from OWS. The belief is that the tea party was destructive, rude, racist, whatever, so your facts mean nothing.
Yep, facts in front of peoples eyes mean nothing. - OWS is on video being thugs.

Guess that doesnt count... or "that wasnt me" LOL. How pathetic they are.

And I also tip my hat to Google, Wikipedia and Craigslist, among many other Internet websites, that have shut down for today to protest the insane SOPA and PIPA bills that would censor the Internet.

This country gets more screwed-up every day.

Mainstream "media" is a farce. It's censored and - tweaked by corporate sponsors. (sm)

What they state happens at protests (when they acknowledge them at all... there was a TV news blackout of the event yesterday)... is usually watered-down when it comes to numbers (they stated last night about a hundred or so protesters, when in fact it was a couple thousand.) They are the first to blame distractions (like the alleged "smoke bomb" on protesters, when in fact, there have been several instances where the "trouble-makers" turned out to be undercover police.

If you want to see what really goes on at protests, instead of "flipping through the newspaper", try watching live Ustream broadcasts of events from people who are actually THERE, not the drivel written by some pencil-pusher sitting in an office cubicle.

media - goodie

Wow - it must be a good feeling to be "on the inside" and know what really goes on, huh? And here I thought this was just an MT board when, in fact, there are people here who know more about what's happening than the news organizations!

You do need to look further than MSM - sm

When some networks, (I won't say the name) show pictures of "crowds" and later it is proven that the pictures were not the pictures of the event, or when there is no coverage at all, or when they show a picture,of say a president talking, but then have their commentators talking over him, you know you have to check into the blogs and community-based newspapers.
That's why I like independent broadcasts on Ustream. - That way you see the truth, in real-time. nm

Why Banks Are May 18, 2017
When people talk about how tax cuts for the businesses will help everybody because they will create jobs, think about this.  One of the big reasons stocks took a downturn was because without the republican agenda and Trump's promised tax cuts they will not profit more like they thought they would. I haven't seen any of these corporations say "darn, we can't hire more people and create jobs."  ...

Compensation For The Boards Of Directors Of The Nation’s Biggest Banks Continues To RiseApr 01, 2013
Excerpt from the NY Times: "Some Wall Street insiders also question the need to pay bank directors more than their counterparts at other big corporations, arguing that the increased regulation has actually limited bank boards’ ability to perform important tasks, like raising capital and issuing dividends. Even when it comes to paying senior executives, boards have less leeway because regulators have pressured boards to bring down executive pay. “About the only thing bank directors h ...
