Article this morning about two coal mines

Posted: Nov 1, 2012

in West Virginia being shut down by the federal government because of the unsafe level of coal dust in the mines.  The owner of these mines has been cited many times for health violations.  He is a Romney supporter and contributor and a strong advocate of deregulation.  What does he care if his workers develop black lung disease; their families can just bury them and he can hire more workers who have little choice but to work in the mines.  Is this kind of deregulation really what you want?  This mine owner cares as much for his workers as the MTSOs care for us - which is not at all. ;

What about the thousands Obama put out of work - "necessarily" bankrupting

the industry? Try a little balance in your post. Try driving through W. Va and see Obama destruction far and wide.

Yeah, we get it you - you love Obama. That does not equate to common sense or a logical thought process

Lies, by defnition, are irrelevant. Anyway, most coal mine - closures are because the world market

for thermal coal is way down. It doesn't pay. They're retooling to produce another kind of coal that is in demand--metallic coal, which turns out to be used in steel production.

It took me about 1 minute to find that out from the Wall Street Journal. Didn't find OP's article first, but, hey, what's new about coal miners letting evil mine owners exploit them into early graves, right?

Unsafe working conditions - old and burned out

in the name of profit is an old, old story. Without some government regulation, more workers are exploited or die. Let's blame Obama for the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire too and the subsequent demise of the American garment industry.

Vs the MILLION Jobs Obama Saved in the Auto Industry as well as the 5.2 MILLION NEW JOBS? - Marge

.

Not to mention the projected 12 million more from current policies (the ones Romney - says he "will" create.) nm

they will lose their Obamacare which totally covers them and their families/widows for black-lung disease.  What is equally as sad is they will lose their Obamacare, coal will not come back, and there will be no funding by the Trump administration for retraining to clean energy jobs....a lose-lose situation for some of the poorest, unhealthiest, least educated members of our society.    ...

Obama Rushes Out 11th Hour Regulations Targeting CoalDec 28, 2016
this is incredibly spiteful. At virtually the last possible moment, the Obama administration on Monday rolled out new regulations making it even more difficult and more costly to mine coal in the U.S., a final shot against the already beleaguered coal industry as the president leaves office. The Interior Department’s Stream Protection Rule will go into effect 30 after its official release and publication in the federal register, meaning it likely will be implemented Jan. 19 — one day ...

What's Your Morning MO?Feb 23, 2010
I'm just curious about how many of us working at home have the same routine. I get up in the morning and immediately heat up bottled water for coffee (I use a French press which makes a really perfect cup of coffee), then hop in the shower.  After that, I make my coffee and drink it while taking about 10 minutes to put on my mineral makeup (so much faster than the other kind of makeup), eyeliner, lip liner and lip gloss.  I then blow dry my hair, get dressed, make a second cup of ...

Good Morning.  I thought all of you might like smile to start the day (before the World beats us up).  Some of us can identify with the funny below, I know I certainly can.   Menopause Jewelry: My husband, being unhappy with my mood swings, bought me a mood ring the other day so he would be able to monitor my moods. We've discovered that when I'm in a good mood, it turns green. When I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a big frickin red mark on his forehead. Maybe ...

that union members in WI are passing around a flyer with names of businesses who supposedly contributed to Walker and calling for a boycott of those businesses.  My problem with this is that employers are the ones who hire employees who pay taxes who fund unions.  Isn't that kinda like shooting themselves in the foot?  Plus, do teachers not realize that some of the businesses they want to boycott may employ a parent of one of their students...but they are doing all this for t ...

My Son Is Nauseous Every Morning.Aug 23, 2011
My son is almost 18 and is a senior in high school.  This started back in June.  He just started back to school yesterday and it is breaking my heart seeing him ill every morning especially since now he is in school again.  No matter what time he gets up, he feels sick to his stomach.  He usually starts to feel better around noon. I drove him to school yesterday and he was gagging in the car.  I expected him to call me during the day, but he didn't.  When he g ...

Well, That Meeting Went Well This Morning.Mar 01, 2013
Obama didn't get his way since the important sequester meeting was only about 1 HOUR LONG.  Yes, he really is looking out for the people -- NOT-- or else they'd still be meeting and negotiating.  Sequester stands. He's not "wasting any more time" (my words, not his) since the sequester was "just dumb and arbitrary" (his words, not mine).  So, Mr. President, if it's so dumb, why did you suggest it in the first place????? Guess he ran off for a game of golf to ...

Could Really Use Some Prayers Right Now. Yesterday MorningAug 25, 2015
we had to do a most agonizing task... put our almost 16-year-old fur baby to sleep. It's like losing a family member, because our fur babies do truly become family members. Since starting working at home about 15 years ago, she has spent almost all day every day with me. It may sound silly to some, but the pain of her loss is almost unbearable.
