A Day in the Life of a Republican Conservative

Posted: Jul 25, 2012

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised. All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree- hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor. Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. It's noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dad's; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republicans would still be sitting in the dark) He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home. He turns on a radio talk show, the host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good (He doesn't tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day). Joe agrees, "We don't need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have." By John Gray ;

Garbage. This one and the lib post - above - pure garbage.

I thought we were going to get past the childish insults, but I guess not. And you all wonder why Congress can't or won't compromise on anything? Sad.

Ahh, come on, - where's your sense of humor?

[ In Reply To ..]
You have to admit, they're both pretty funny. ;)

Not really, especially when some think it's the - truth.

[ In Reply To ..]
I have as much of a sense of humor as the next guy, but there are some that believe this and that's why we all spend so much time arguing and can never come to any compromise. It's just sad to keep making fun of each other all the time.

This is why congress can't compromise? sm - JTBB

Have you forgotten all those pubs who have publicly stated they would NOT work with Obama? This started as soon as Obama took office. Right now they can't even pass a farm bill during one of worst droughts in history. (When food prices rise, don't blame Obama, blame your stalling, do-nothing pubs). How many days has it taken just to agree to fix a typo in the House?

Seriously, republicans voted in folks just to sit there and do absolutely nothing, which in turn has actually hurt the country. Pubs don't like welfare, but they are more than happy to pay these guys to just say no.

Each side is so absolutely positive that thier - side is the right side

[ In Reply To ..]
they refuse to see any middle ground - just like most of the posters on this board. We all see each other as left or right anymore (some even call the other side radical or worse). Whether the tone started with congress or with the country I can't say, but it started long before Obama and I fear will continue long after he's not president anymore. You can't blame one side for not bending when the other side won't do it either. Compromise takes two and I don't see any of it from either side.
So you deny that republicans are .... - JTBB

obstructionists? How many filibusters have been used during this president's term? I believe we have a brand new record accomplished by the pubs in this category. And let's not forget the goals of the republican party over the last few years...what were they fighting for? Human rights? The economy? Foreign affairs? UNEMPLOYMENT? Of course not...Mitch explains it perfectly.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-A09a_gHJc
I don't deny it, but you can't deny that dems do - the same thing.
[ In Reply To ..]
Everyone believes they're in the right, so there's no giving in. Both sides obstruct when they thing the other side is wrong (which only translates to they don't agree). The only difference is who's in the WH. Do you honestly think that if Romney wins in November that the dems will want to work with him? I just don't see it happening.

You should have thanked the men and women of the United States Armed Forces fighting for our freedom, for if not for them, you wouldn't have been able to recite your little "story."

Thank you.

and secretely wonders what he served for--so that Cheney could be richer? So oil companies could continue to manipulate the market, have record profits, and be subsidized by the government? My guess is he tries not to think about it as drinks another beer to kill the pain.

As A ConservativeJul 30, 2011
I gotta admit...I like Joe Manchin, democrat from West Virginia.  He truly seems like a guy who wants to help us regular folk.  He has done well in West Virginia and I really liked an interview he gave regarding the Boehner and Reid debt ceiling bills.  He didn't point fingers or blame anyone.  He was kind in his assessment of Reid and Boehner bills and simply said he wanted a fix and not just a Band-Aid. Seems like a really smart guy who really cares.  Wish there w ...

I decided to bring my reply to the top since the previous thread is about to fall off the screen.  Your thorough and thoughtful disclosures of your beliefs and take on various candidates in no way resemble a soap-box dialog.  I have learned a lot about my own attitudes and stereotypical thinking about conservatives from you and really appreciate your taking the time to post.  Yep.  I can relate to the flip-flop and trust issues you have with Romney.  It has been a bitte ...

Some Conservative ThoughtsOct 22, 2009
If a conservative doesn’t like a news organization or a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.  If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.  A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.  If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.  If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.  If a ...

Requesting Conservative InputJan 04, 2012
I have read conservatives are against Obama's health care law.  I would like to know who should pay for people who refuse to buy health insurance.  For example, I hired a handyman out of the local paper.  he told me about his appendicitis.  He said he did not buy health care because he knew govt would take care of his bill if he could not.  Why do you not wish for each individual to be responsible for their hospital bills?  Not looking for argument, just would ...

Bizarrely, TP Now Claiming JFK Was A Conservative. WHY?Nov 03, 2013
A recent Pew poll showed that well over 50% of conservatives could not say just who was in charge of the GOP, i.e., identify their own leader(s). Most conservatives feel an especial need for a leader to follow too. Could this hole have anything to do with their attempts to "adopt" Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and now John Kennedy as their own by twisting and distorting what these men really stood for?
