HELP - Extreme light sensitivy

Posted: Jan 18, 2012

I need to find a remedy and fast.  I've got too much work to deal with this.  I have such extreme light sensitivity.  I'm typing with both eyes squinted almost shut.  One iI hold closed the other one all I'm seeing is a little bit.  The light is so bad.  What I'm typing looks blurry so I type then shut my eyes a few seconds open and try and read a sentence at a time.  This is no way going to work.  I put a warm compress on my eyes every once in awhile and it feels great until I take it off then the light feels like someone is shining a search light in my face.  I'm also using eye drops every once in awhile.  Does anyone have any good suggestions.  I have reports I have to get done but this is the pits.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Photophobia has MANY causes. - SeeAnEyeDoc

Photophobia can be caused by MANY things. The supplement St. John's wort can cause it. So can some medications, even OTC ones.

Conjunctivitis, blepharitis, retinitis, and corneal ulcers can all cause photophobia. (There are other infectious/inflammatory condition as well, such as pink eye -- and the list goes on and on....) Do you wear contacts, and have you been sleeping in them?

You may have a serious eye condition going on there and need to be seen by an eye doctor as soon as you can.

I had this problem too. - mtlt

Mine were to the point that my eyes would burn when I would sit down to work even for just a few minutes. I went to the eye doc and had to get glasses. I have an astigmatism and to top it all off, one eye is near-sighted and the other is far-sighted. My eyes are really screwed up. Since the glasses it has gotten much better.

aside from getting in to see a doctor soon, - sm

How about trying dark sunglasses while you're working.

I would suggest sunglasses too. I have migraine headaches where I get - Noney

auras and vision problems with photophobia and if I put on my sunglasses, I'm able to keep working until the auras pass.

Never heard of using sunglasses for migraines. I will have to try it so I can work easier with one. - zippy

Does anyone else suffer from extreme fatigue?  I'm so tired I can't even type.  Just walking a few steps is tiring.   Some days are better than others.  I have a hard time lifting my legs to get into my truck or into bed.  I do have hypothyroidism.  I'm overweight but can't seem to lose any weight.  My metabolism is pratically nil.  Now my doctor has put the depression tag on me so I'm basically screwed about having anyth ...

Extreme Fear If BridgesJan 25, 2011
I have an extreme fear of bridges which keeps me from venturing anywhere there's a bridge.  Even freeway overpasses affect me in a similar manner.   Others either laugh or get annoyed with me, but I'd give anything to not feel this way, to just be like everyone else.   Does anyone have this problem? ...

Anyone See That New TLC Show Extreme Couponing?Jan 05, 2011
I only saw one episode and am addicted. It's insane! For those of you who have not seen it, this show follows 4 people who are considered extreme couponers.  These people spend hours and hours finding and cutting out coupons to save money. It shows how many items they bought, what they bought, what their original bill would be, and how much they actually paid after their coupons. They have a system down, very organized almost to the point of OCD. They showed their stacks upon stacks of ...

at least I think it's the first episode, on On Demand, since the show is on too late at night for me. What they don't say is how much of that cereal and TP they go through before they buy more....and that one woman who took her husband with her and wound up with 4 carts of groceries....I didn't see a single piece of m ...

Light Bulb BanDec 29, 2012
Don't forget to get your 75 watt incandescent light bulbs before January 1st, when they will be removed from the shelves. We lost 100 watt bulbs in 2012, and will lose 60 and 40 watt ones in 2014. The Fed claims the new corkscrew bulbs are "more energy efficient," but that's just another lie. There is little profit margin in the incandescent bulbs, and the corkscrews are made off-shore and cost us, the consumer" a fortune. ...

Light SensitivityDec 29, 2014
I have light sensitivity that is driving me nuts.  I consider it to be severe because even inside my house if the curtains are open, even if the sun is not shining in (like on a rainy day) I am sitting here squinting.  Sometimes my eyes are almost closed and I can just look out a little cos the light hurts my eyes and they ache.  I've tried wearing sunglasses, but they don't help.  My eyes still ache, only everything is a little darker, but I still squint.  I ...

Extreme Fatigue (worse Than Normal) Any Ideas?Mar 05, 2013
I know it is the most common complaint doctors hear - and for years I have had the stressed-tired-overworked fatigue - I know how that one feels.  But this has been going on a couple of months.  I am bone tired even after I sleep a lot.  My blood work showed I am hypothyroid so I started on medicine and also some supplements for that.  But nothing seems to be helping.  I have pain/fatigue across the area of my back right at the braline.  My arms and neck feel heavy. ...

When Your Low-fuel Light Comes, How Many More Miles Before Your Run Out Of Gas?Oct 16, 2014
I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier.  It doesn't have an actual "low-fuel light."  It has a light that says "check gauges" when the gas gauge hits E.  Normally, I would have filled up before now, but I'm broke and payday is tomorrow.  So I really I just have to make it until tomorrow morning.  I work in the office and have to drive about 40 miles to get back home.  The light came on this morning on my way to work and I had 15 miles left of my commute.  So to ...

Extreme Weather At All Time Lows As Climax Hoax Apr 29, 2017
The Church of Global Warming has many followers and, because it’s a cult-like religious belief to them, no amount of hard data will ever convince them they adhere to the teachings of a false god. Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon the non-establishment, honest alternative media to report what is and what isn’t: And what isn’t is the supposed increase in “extreme weather” due to “global warming/climate change” caused by humans. Climate Depot points this out in a new report tha ...

Newly Released Emails Shed Light On State DeptAug 11, 2016
Washington (CNN) — Newly released emails from Hillary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state raise questions about the nature of the department's relationship with the Clinton Foundation. Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, released 296 pages of emails from the Democratic presidential nominee, including 44 that Judicial Watch says were not previously handed over to the State Department by Clinton. The emails, many of which are heavily redacted, raise questions about t ...
