When The Safety Net Becomes A HammockAug 10, 2013
It's disgusting that someone who is healthy but lazy refuses to look for a job takes government handouts without feeling guilty. In fact, this guy is proud of himself.  I don't care if you hate Fox News. You seriously need to watch this. This is something everyone should be disgusted with and it was a great report by Bret Baier. If you really care about waste and fraud, in our country, you will watch it. If not, then you don't care if the taxpayer gets ripped off by people l ...

Need Advice On Safety GateNov 25, 2009
I have a friend who has had to move into a HUD apartment with her infant and toddler (husaband's whereabouts unknown, she's been unemployed for 2 years, is going to school full time now).  All of the walls are stuccoed-over concrete and there are steep concrete stairs.  There are no newel posts, just the walls (one shorter than the other) and an iron handrail...it reminds me of a fire escape stairwell in a large  building or hospital.  Anyway, I want to get her a s ...

TN Dept Of Safety And Homeland Security Revoked James Yeager's Jan 11, 2013
after the raving lunatic posted a call-to-arms YouTube video stating his intent to "start killing people" if any gun control measures are passed.  Evidently, the TDSHS was none too impressed with his "pack Your Bags Part 2" video that was supposed to be a walked back "apology."  Here's a heavily edited transcript of that rant.  I have to wonder what good 2nd Amendment apologists think this kind of Alex-Jones-inspired rhetoric does for their cause.  Keep in mind, this is ...

Texas Governor Pans Drilling Safety Regulations, Suggests 'God' To Blame For May 04, 2010
By Stephen C. WebsterMonday, May 3rd, 2010 -- 8:34 pm If the very Christian, very Republican governor of Texas is right on this one, he may soon find it politically expedient to rethink his allegiances, what with 2010 being an election year and all. That's right: according to Republican Rick Perry, no amount of safety requirements can prevent an "act of God," which may or may not have occurred in the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in 11 dead oil rig workers and a gusher of oil jetting over 2 m ...

Transocean (oil Spill) Execs Given "best Year Of Safety" BonusesApr 03, 2011
Transocean noted "the tragic loss of life" in the Gulf when the rig operated by BP PLC exploded last April. But it said the company still had an "exemplary" safety record because it met or exceeded certain internal safety targets concerning the frequency and severity of its accidents, according to the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.     http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/02/transocean-execs-get-bonu_n_843975.html ...

So let me get this straight:   ✔ Movies and video games highlighting the assassination of George W. Bush are entirely acceptable...CHECK!   ✔ It's perfectly fine for a lowlife cretin like Jay-Z to continue dehumanizing women in his rap lyrics...CHECK!   ✔ Rapper Chris Brown can actually pummel the shit out of his girlfriend within inches of her life, yet is rewarded with a Grammy a few weeks ago...CHECK!   ✔ Ted Kennedy actually KILLED a woman and ...

Update On Dog Food...no Go.Mar 21, 2011
Won't touch the 4Health or Taste of the Wild. So, we're done spending a fortune on dog food. We're going back to Beneful. It seems to be the only thing she likes. Thank heavens, we only bought the small bags and they are gone now. On the positive side, as long as she's not eating much, she might lose some weight.  LOL ...

Cat With Possible Food Allergies?Apr 24, 2013
Does anyone have a cat with food allergies?  My white/tabby mix seems to always be itching but does not have fleas.  His white ears are frequently pink and warm and he scratches quite a bit.  Last night I noticed him licking his belly and it, too, was quite pink. We have been round and round with this kitty since we inherited him from my MIL.  He was always a puker and I have improved that condition with different food and hairball treats, but I'm wondering if the pukin ...

Dog Food RecallsSep 04, 2013
I don't know how many people follow the recalls but I need to warn you about another dog food that's NOT on recall. . . Beneful dog food...  Sadly, our baby had ALL of these symptoms, not in order, not daily, and not all of them, so her symptoms weren't recognized. Tests didn't show anything wrong. I did research but it was too late. Her BUN and creatinine was "off the charts" at her last visit and there was no hope for her - yet this never showed up in the other b ...

Just Some Food For Thought Here. May 01, 2015

School Food ProgramJan 25, 2012
Listening to Rush this a.m.  He was saying Michele Obama should abandon her attempts at improving nutrition in the schools.  He said children refuse to eat the tofu that Michele wants them to eat.  What is the point of warping this discussion beyond recognition?  I visited my nephew's school and I was appalled at the school lunch. Chicken nuggets and pizza, etc.  I have never heard Michelle talk about replacing this junk with tofu.  Why not just go ba ...

Update On Dog Food ProblemMar 08, 2011
Well, the very next day, DH went to get Blue Buffalo and instead came home with a 5 lb. bag of 4health ($6) and Taste of the Wild  ($12) instead (he always listens to sales people). We started her on 4health and she didn't touch it the first day unless we put in 1/2 can of wet and veggies. The second day she ate it with no problem. She also seems to be 'full' after eating and isn't crying or whining. The next day, she didn't even touch her breakfast until after lun ...

Need A Dog Food That Will Fill The Dog Up But Keep Weight DownMar 02, 2011
Is it a full moon or something? Now it's the dog! She get 2 meals a day, a half can of dry food and half can of wet for breakfast. in the evening, she gets a full can of dry food, a half can of wet, and 1/2 can of veggies. She acts like she is starving. She paws 'daddy' for more during her meal times, whines, walks around the kitchen and under the kitchen table after eating looking for a wayward piece of dry dog food or hoping we dropped a piece of our dinnerwithout  knowing ...

Food Stamp NationDec 09, 2010
“The lessons of history … show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit.” These searing words about Depression-era welfare are from Franklin Roosevelt’s 1935 State of the Union Address. FDR feared this self-reliant people might come to depend permanently upon government ...

About Picking Up Restautant Food And TipMay 10, 2010
We were talking at my office about picking up restautant food, and whether or not a tip is justified. Example, if you call in an order to a restaurant like Claim Jumper (citing an example a co-worker used) and you swing by to pick it up on the way home, would you tip? Technically, you're not in the restaurant and getting service. Typically, a tip is given due to the service provided by the waitstaff. I said maybe one would be justified if you stayed parked and they brought it to you. I usua ...

Food For Thought..I Found This To Be A Jun 25, 2012
very interesting insight... When I was a child growing up in the late 1940s and early 1950s one of my favorite radio programs was the continuing saga of The Lone Ranger. I would huddle next to the radio every night to follow the adventures of the Lone Ranger and his faithful companion, Tonto. Unfortunately, the program aired just about my bed time and, as often as not, my parents would insist that I miss part of the program and keep to the schedule they'd deemed appropriate. One nigh ...
